Don't you think three matches is too small a sample on which to make a judgement?

Has he even played in the middle in all three games? I can't remember.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Walcott has been at Arsenal 4 years - has he really produced week in week out.
Nasri was average for 2 seasons now should win player of the season.

The answer to your question though is - It depends on how successful the team the player is playing for are being against their 'target' or 'level'.
I.E. the players I listed above have all been allowed plently of time to adapt and settle in because the clubs they were playing for were achiveing enough 'success' or making enough 'progress'.

Our problem is that the expectations are so high a lot of fans and parts of the media don't allow any of our signings time to adapt because we need the new signings to have an immediate impact to improve our fortunes

Edit my own post - don't get me started on Berbatov costing £30m and being atrocious for the first 2 years before coming into some form this season yet all the media saying he was a great buy
      end of discussion with that!
