Sorry if this has been discussed before in one the 199.444 Suarez posts in here but am I right in assuming that he's banned from taking part in the Europa League?!
I seem to remember that Ajax has been involved in that tournament this year...

If he's played in the Europa he will be banned yes. If he's only played champions league games then we will be able to register him.

Thanks - just remembered that Ajax took part in the Champions League group with Real Madrid and AC Milan so he won't be banned

I'm afraid he is cup tied for the Europa League. Ajax finished third in their group which means they too are now competing in the Europa League thus making Suarez ineligible for us to register for Europe. This is the extract from the UEFA Competition Regulations with the relevant bits bolded:

18.18 One player from the above quota of three who has played UEFA club competition matches for another competing club in the current season may exceptionally be registered, provided that the player has not been fielded:

• in the same competition for another club; or
• for another club that is currently in the same competition.

Furthermore, if the player’s new club is playing in the UEFA Europa League,
his former club must not have played in the UEFA Europa League at any
point in the current season.
