he's comments are very very bitter....almost like he is aiming them at someone - be it the fans/players/management/owners or just all of us - thats what people are finding so hard to deal with - for me it doesn't matter how ****ing great he was who how much i loved him - these words haven't just wiped the slate, they have completed ****ing obliterated it....how can anyone defend him with words like that...to me it's a thinly hidden attack at us. Whether he is right or wrong in what he says - there are some things you do say and some things you don't say - it's shows a total lack of respect, he's treated this move like he's signed from Wigan Athletic to Barcelona.

What i hope more than anything is...in a few weeks when it's all died down....he's out there standing on the stamford bridge pitch, it's ****ing silent, there's no chants for any player, certainly no "bounce in a minute" and even, if it's just for a split second, i hope he thinks...wow...these aren't a 'big' club, it's all just a bit hollow"

Marsh, in principle I suspect you are right but people are upset that:

a. It was done so late in the window, it looks like we panic bought Carroll and we paid over the odds.

b. He could have been a bit more classy with his comments when he joined the chavs.

i would prefer him to be here too.

however we could have said no you go in the summer, we only let him go when we were getting a replacement. the replacement we wanted is carroll.

if we didnt want carroll or didnt want to pay that then we wouldnt have would have kept torres until the summer.

torres could have left last summer and that would have been much worse than leaving when he did.

i am not sure we would have been happy whenever he went and that is understandable.

some of his reported comments have been altered and from his point of view chelsea are a top club who are always in the top 4 and have won two league titles in the last 5 years. he didnt say they were a big club or a special club which would have been worse. remember he is a chelsea player so has to keep there fans sweet too.

in reality who could afford him?

you never know with the mancs but i doubt it
barca - would they want him?
inter - possible but no bid
ac - again no bid

so it doesnt leave many places for him to go. also forget a bidding war if he has a release clause then all partys just have to bid that.


0h and look at the rejoicing at suarez who looks quite a player - went on strike to get ajax move and then wanted to move to us, we love him now but he is a footballer who has left a club etc etc

also remember what torres left his hometown club he left to win things and yet he hasnt won anything at club level. if he stayed and didnt win anything with us does that not mean he was wrong to leave athletico?

Because football is tribal, emotional and almost religious to some people. Nobody gives a **** if Mike Jones moves from Dixons to HMV and there isn't the same emotional ties and broken promises.

You don't have to be angry but others have the right to express how they feel. Personally I think he is a cunt and I hope he fails massively but then I'm more concerned with our club and new signings than wasting my time on that.

As for the banner, I would thank him for his efforts and ask him to preserve our league record by inspiring Chelsea to the title this year. I’m not bitter at all and think all parties did well in the deal. As much as I love Torres, this season is basically written off for us, so we’d be looking at having an injury prone 27 year old spearheading our attack next year. Instead we’ve got a 24 year old Suarez who is probably at a similar level to Torres when he signed and a 22 year old Carroll that will give any defence problems.

As for his comments, well what do people expect? Torres is excellent at PR, knows just the right things to say and do to gets the fans to adore him (armband, LFC scarf etc) and now he’s at Chelsea that will be his no.1 concern, not us. Just like many are here, I’m sure sections of the Atletico fans were looking at his comments and behaviour when he signed for us and felt a bit betrayed. That transfer was obviously a bit more amicable, but no team likes losing their best player, especially one so popular.

I agree with this I think the booing, chants and jeering will only make him play better. If the fans were just to ignore or be indifferent towards him it would probably freak him out.

I like the shirt idea but in fairness it will make us all look a little stupid.

I honestly dont mind him having left us now, he was a tremendous player during his injury hit time here and I will always have a soft spot for him, personally id have a tiny flag saying thanks fernando then huge ****ing flags supporting the team we have, sing a couple of andy carrol liverpools no.9 songs and beat the chav cunts. Thats what we need to do before anything else.
