Aside from the usual subjects it would have to be Terry McDermott for me, terrific engine, scored something like a goal every 4 games and a fair few of them where absolute crackers. Seem to remember him getting MOTD's goal of the season for about 3 seasons on the spin.
I like young women cos there stories are shorter!

Fowler is my favourite player of all time but a usual suspect.

Are Alonso and Hyypia usual suspects? If so then I'll go for Berger, Garcia and Riise.

Excluding Dalglish, a far from exhaustive list would include Heighway, Clemence, Fairclough, Souness, Rush, HansenandLawrenson, Nicol, Barnes, Torres, Meijer.

          Ooh, I can make a line-up.

          -------------Clemence-------------

          ----Nicol------Hansen--Lawrenson--

          --------------Souness--------------

          Barnes---------------------Heighway

          --Fairclough--Rush--Torres--Meijer---
          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Good shout . I remember being so unimpressed when we signed him, for £8.5m wasn't it, but what a great player he turned out to be.

he played quite differently for us than he did for the barcodes.

he attacked a lot more for them iirc

I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

Markus Babbel. Controversially the best defender we ever had, and I've been supporting LFC since 1980. If not for his unfortunate brain thingy would have gone on to show his talent for longer. Absolutely outstanding. Had the lot: passing, awareness, bit of pace, vision, ball control, heading ability, good attitude and ability to play different positions not just well but at world class level.

Would have said John Barnes when I was a bit younger. But maybe because I saw his career with us from start to finish, and probably influenced by the fact that I am married to a Finn, i'd now say Sami Hyypia.

Edit: Beary, didn't see your post, but

                              Roger Hunt...

Like Nando and Pepe a World Cup Winner (apologies to Xabi and Alvaro).

Failing that, Ian Callaghan or Tommy Smith ("Rose like a Brick Gazelle to score in the 1977 EC Final" words, more or less, from John Peel), or Billy Liddell.

Then again there's always Ron Yeats and John Toshack. And Tommy Lawrence.

Plus a certain Kevin Keegan whom I saw playing for the reserves at Southport before he made his full debut. Still scored though. ;-)
