McCarthy would be a terrific holding midfield player for us and nzogbia would be fab out wide.

a real chance to make up ground on the top 4 with games running out and thats just not good enough.

their goal looked offside but its hard to tell on a **** stream with a 2" view.

McCarthy's a big talent and more than holding his own in the league.

Need to start looking at players like this.

Suarez aside, we showed a distinct lack of quality in the final third that did not help Lucas. That said, he gave the ball away and got caught dwelling on the ball too much for my liking. Perhaps he was suffering from his midweek exertions.

We were in for McCarthy but he wanted first team football so he went to Wigan.

I thought Suarez was ace. And the falling over didn't bother me at all, he was getting a rough time of it and made sure he won the decisions. He'll get a rep for it over time, stop winning the free kicks and then he'll stop doing it so much.

Nzogbia deserves his chance to step up, McCarthy does look a talent. Fair play to Wigan they'd played well, we didn't. With key players out, we needed other player to step up, and that didn't happen. Back to reality and back with a bang.

Hopefully the injuries aren't too bad and we can get back to having a full strength squad and make a strong finish in the league. I dunno about everyone else but i thought Suarez movement was incredible, with players that can spot this and be on the same wave length as him, he'll get alot of chances to score IMO. Well done to the lad, best player on the pitch.

I really didn't notice him do that except once in the first half were he was fouled, he gave the ball away less than everyone else.

N'Zogbia doesn't lack quality at all, he can go past players, he's quick, he's mobile, he's strong, he can cross the ball well, he can score goals.
                  He's a very exciting winger.
N'zogbia has a career 1 in 6 scoring rate, Maxi has 1 in 4 and played at a high level.
Johnson has been our best fullback this season.

N'Zogbia isn't good enough. We were in for Ashley Young, who is a much better player.

I thought he gave it away a bit, but it was his dawdling on the ball that concerned me more. Our passing as a team was often poor, but I expected Lucas to show more, especially as he was the senior midfield player after Ming went off.

                          Lucas looked very tired today.

That is were a lack of depth in our midfield came into it, he was holding, they creative players weren't doing enough in front of him.

i think lucas dawdled because people weren't moving in front of him.

as far as this whole n'zogbia vs maxi thing, goal scoring stats aren't the end all be all. they are very different players. maxi cuts in, and gets into scoring positions. insomnia stays wider and delivers the ball. no surprise. n'zogbia also scores more than carragher. so what?

True, but his performance was also sub-par.
