    Felt like a loss today..

Missed Gerrard in midfield and although it'll be great to have Andy Carroll back, we really need someone who is going to supply him with a decent ball..

We maybe could have done with that Charlie Adam transfer going through, after all..

honestly, these are exactly the sorts of games that the presence of xabi would have won for us. just taking the craziness out of the play and keeping the team moving together.

Hopefully the injuries aren't too bad and we can get back to having a full strength squad and make a strong finish in the league. I dunno about everyone else but i thought Suarez movement was incredible, with players that can spot this and be on the same wave length as him, he'll get alot of chances to score IMO. Well done to the lad, best player on the pitch.
Very unlucky not to score. The move in the first half when he hit the post was something special. If he did score we would have won it.

Kuyt and Maxi were awful. They really cannot give us anything offensively especially Maxi. These days he is better defender than attacker which pretty much sums things up.

Ngog was lacking match fitness and Jovanovic once again looked dreadful. No need to dwell on him as he'll probably not play for L4, ever.

We really need to sort things out in the summer. Lot of deadwood and not enough quality.

I agree, in as much as the ball kept bouncing back off Kuyt, and the Johnson - Aurelio left side didn't really work. And Maxi, well, was just Maxi really, good technique but somehow just missing something crucial;. Lucas I thought had an inconsistent game though, for a couple of patches he was pretty good but he also had a couple of periods when it wasn't happening at all.

Carroll, Gerrard and, dare I suggest, Joe Cole? could make a huge difference to the way we played today offensively

as far as this whole n'zogbia vs maxi thing, goal scoring stats aren't the end all be all. they are very different players. maxi cuts in, and gets into scoring positions. insomnia stays wider and delivers the ball. no surprise. n'zogbia also scores more than carragher. so what?
Cristiano Ronaldo scores more than Pepe Reina, but they play in different positions.

Maxi = Left Wing, 3 Goals 1 Assists for LFC
Nzogbia = Left Wing, 4 Goals 5 Assists for Wigan

We need productivity for the wide areas, with Carroll signed service fro the wide areas must improve, Nzogbia is a natural winger, Maxi is not and this shows. but i suppose its all about opinions, IMO i think N'zogbia deserves the chance to step, others may differ thats fare enough.

Johnson has been our best fullback this season.
When you have Carroll, Suarez, Gerrard, Kuyt and Meireles in the side, you're not struggling for goals.
You might however struggle for creativity and players who can create chances for them...hence signing a player like N'Zogbia would make a great deal of sense.

He's not the best player about, and he can still get better but he's a player who would fit into the Liverpool squad very nicely imo and give us something we're badly lacking.

As for your Glen Johnson being our best full back this season comment, i'll not even bother going there.

                        Plenty of positives though..

Unbeaten in 6 games and 13 points out of 15..

Suarez looks lively and will definitely get goals..

look lucas is no alonso. his passing isnt anywhere near as good as xabis was and therein lies the problem.

lucas can only hit the obvious balls to players that have made the pass for him which means that the forward players have to work really hard to find space for the pass.

unlike alonso lucas cant create space or openings with a pass. It might sound stupid but instead of forcing oportunities he reacts to ones that have been created for him.

this isnt a criticism of lucas as that sort of passing ability is only posessed by a few and he has been one of our best players this season. Im still not sure that he's first XI material but as a squad player his attitude, application and work rate is first class.

in short, if people want the ball off lucas they are going to have to come and get it.

I'm really not a fan of Johnson on the left. If we're going to play both him and Aurelio we need to play Aurelio LB and Johnson at either RB or RM. Johnson's strengths are all going forward and playing him on the left neutralises the threat he provides to a large degree.

Maxi is a funny one. As you say, he has all the technical attributes, but I've never been fully convinced by him. He's always neat and tidy, but too often fails to make a telling contribution. And yes, I am aware he has scored several goals for us this season. I'm referring to his general play.

Think Matty has made his bed with Johnson and is very much laying in it, commited in his opinions about Johnson and Maxi and not budging at all even when they are woeful, which is quite often. Also jumps to criticise Kelly at every turn too
