The defence that ended the United game, Lucas protecting. Gerrard and Maxi ahead of them with Kuyt and Meireles off Ngog would be my guess. Until he has played a few games you can't consider Carroll as part of the strongest XI. If Gerrard can't play drop Meireles back and put in Cole. Simples

No he's ineligible for the rest of the season.

          No Kuyt?

Sadly I can see Carra play in the middle, Johnson RB and Wilson LB.

Liverpool will give striker Andy Carroll more time on the pitch against Braga after he appeared as a substitute in the 3-1 win over Manchester United.

The 22-year-old, who signed for a club record fee of about £35m in January, had been sidelined with a thigh injury.

"He'll play some more minutes against Braga and hopefully he'll be involved more and more," said the Reds' head of sports medicine Peter Brukner.

Carroll's last full game for former side Newcastle was on 28 December.

The tendon tear that kept the England forward out of action until he replaced Raul Meireles after 74 minutes at Anfield on Sunday had proved more serious than originally thought.

Newcastle sent Carroll to Dubai in the hope that a warm-weather break would speed his recovery and had planned a trip to a tendon specialist in Sweden before selling him on transfer deadline day.

Despite losing main striker Fernando Torres to Chelsea on the same day as Carroll's arrival, Brukner insists the club were right to take their time over their record signing's comeback.

"It has been a long process rehabilitating him - about eight or nine weeks - but we are happy with the result," added Brukner.

"He spent the first couple of weeks in the gym and on the treatment table. Then we were able to get him outside and start him running. Gradually we introduced him to ball drills.

"He had full training last week and had his 16 minutes on Sunday.

"Unless anything goes wrong between now and Thursday, we'll expect him to play for a longer period of time.

"Overall, we are really happy with his progress."

forgot bout wilson. actually think he'll play with skittles dropped and carra central :

              johnson - carra - soto - wilson.

i say give dirk the night off and play ngog who does well in europe then carroll can come on later for game time.

This could be very, very tough. Would be well happy with a draw.

                        I'd take a draw.

Surprised to see Mendy in the squad.
