No, I just think he didn't know his best position, neither did Hodgson. He seems to have suffered from that his whole career.

Yeah, I think he'd probably work best as a number 10 behind the striker, but I don't think he's good enough to do that for us. He started off as a CM for West Ham, shifted to LM at Chelsea and for England and hasn't really made any position his own.

His legs have gone, and unless his fitness has improved massively since when he was with us then I can't see him adding any value if he stays.

Joe comes across as a real sound lad.

As a person he may be lovely and his missus is bloody gorgeous but he can **** right off - I'll never be in favour of a professional footballer who can't even stop smoking.
