Bull ****. Last season people were saying anyone would improve us? Don't think so. When we were in the relegation zone this season, well that was a different matter.Originally posted by Chris View PostHahaha use your brain! We had the same "anyone would improve us from last season" when Rafa went, football isnt that simple.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

Are you serious? Loads and loads were saying it.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostBull ****. Last season people were saying anyone would improve us? Don't think so. When we were in the relegation zone this season, well that was a different matter.
I know you go against the grain just to get in an argument on here but please, open your eyes.

i remember there being arguments of anyone could get the team into the top 4 two years ago.
i see nothing wrong in assessing the managerial situation and thinking who is the best for the club.
however to do dismiss the turn around since Kenny took over as something anyone would have done, seems to fly in the face of facts.

Nobody said that anyone would be able get us in the top four. Nobody.
Either way, there is underperforming, as many argued in relation to us coming 7th last year, and there is being in the reparation zone a third of the way through a season. Roy managed to do as bad a job as anyone could, but Phil Brown would have produced an upturn in form, never mind Kenny. I think he's done a good job, but on the pitch it hasn't been that spectacular overall. He may not be the best person to build a team with good investment. But maybe he is. We can't really get a view of how things are working day to day, behind the scenes, so it's really impossible to tell.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

i do agree there is nothing wrong in thinking who is available and who would do the best job.

It wasn't my main point, but still, I think it's probably true. Hodgson really had nothing going on, not a clue. He made our best players look terrible and the rest worse. Another decent level professional football manager wouldn't have struggled to improve our one dimensional play and get more points.Originally posted by Chris View PostDelusional! KK hasn't got a fair chance to show what he can do and what tactics he will use. He had a lot of changes to do after the mess Hodgson left us in. Takes time to correct those mistakes.
If FSG had sacked Roy in November then we would probably know by now how he want us to play because the mistakes left by Hodgson would have been less and he would have time to plan the changes he wanted to make in the January transfer window.
Right now we don't have a clue what tactics he will use and how he want us to play. He had to start building from the back and to make us play much better defence. That was priority one. In the summer he will have time to make the changes he must do to our attacking play. Then he will be able to plan and sell the players we don't need and sign players he want to fit into his style of play.Stop the cyberhate

I think that if they consider KK to be the only option then he would have got a new deal by now. They obviously have other options in mind.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostI think he'll be here next season, but do you think it's possible that the owners may not invest as confidently as they might have with one of their identified choices at the reigns?
Maybe they want to wait and see if Villas Boas for example want the job? If they can get a young up and coming manager like him then I think they will sign him up. I doubt that they want a manager that may only stay four, five years. I think they want someone that can stay and build a dynasty, like Wenger and Fergie did at their clubs but that is my opinion.
I think that is also the reason to why they didn't sack Roy earlier and gave KK the job back in November. The pressure to keep KK as manager is a key point.
What would a lot of fans say if we didn't give KK a new deal? FSG would probably get a lot of stick whatever manager they replace him with.Stop the cyberhate

If they don't, they will be shooting themselves in the foot. If they want to improve the value of their initial investment they will have to spend money imo heavily in the summer as the gap between us and others will only get wider.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostI think he'll be here next season, but do you think it's possible that the owners may not invest as confidently as they might have with one of their identified choices at the reigns?
It just wouldn't make any sense for them not to as we need to compete at the highest level (PL, CL, FA etc.) 'cause they need the revenue stream to be significantly increased in order for them to see their potential ROI eventually capitalized.
Any other approach imo will only take us back and we are already trailing quite a bit behind top 5 clubs.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

The sensible thing is of course to weigh up all the options. Kenny has done a very good job in difficult circumstances. But I'd also be very tempted to get Vilas Boas in. He looks like the outstanding young manager in world football. We'd be silly not to consider him.
I trust the owners will make the right decision anyway, they seem very level headed and are perhaps not as clouded by emotions as we are.
