I do agree that his reading of the game could be better. But do you not think that something like this happens over time. He needs games to develop that sort of skill at the highest level.

I can't remember. It was a while ago.

Bob the Charmer said Spearing has more to offer than Lucas. Red G said Spearing would be a better option than Lucas (he also said Cattermole would be too) and that Spearing would likely be better if he had played as many games as Lucas and how can Spearing be kept out by someone as bad as Lucas. Nick77 complained that Lucas got too many chances while Spearing didn't.

I think people have just obsessed with Spearing being a success for so long because he is local. I just don't see it happening and there have been posts praising him as amazing pretty much every game he has played.

for some reason this came into my mind when watching jay spearing last night!

he appears to be "far away" when infact he is not!?!?!?! baffling!

People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

Not being hyperbolic mate, I really thought he was bad.
I'm sure they are, just like all of our players so I doubt that's influencing their opinion of him, well no more so than the rest of the team.

I think I've already discussed his value to the team in this thread so best just let time decide if he'll ever be 'good enough'.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

He reminds me of the little kid in the playground who would be allowed to join in a match with the big boys.

I'll take a big pat on the back as I suggested him playing in a derby last year (or was it the year before) and got **** on by nearly everyone on here saying I was mad. Well I might be but I got this one right. He played well that day and again last night so

He did play in the derby last year, he was anonymous and got ridiculous praise.

Do you not think that maybe, as he was getting loads of praise he did something right? Were not all stupid blind fans, some of us can see a good performance from bad.

Let's be honest here. If you don't like or rate someone, you either don't notice them when others do or see every "fault " in their game whether it's real or not.

"Ridiculous praise" sums that up to a tee

Sorry mate, but it has been like this constantly with Spearing and others have previously noted it. He isn't very good.

Not really, look through old threads about his performance and you will see the same pattern, people are just desperate for him to succeed because he is local imo.

I disagree. He is capable cover. But because Lucas is injured he gets seen and exposed more.

But to say he isnt very good is just not true. Bruno Cheroyu wasn't very good. Jay is decent. He will never set the world alight. But he will always provide a level that is fairly consistent.
