I stand by my comments on Lucas. I accept that he has got better and there are things he does very well now but he offers nothing offensively. Never has and never will. Can't make an incisive forward pass, can't cross and can't shoot. Carra will score again before Lucas. (comical comment to prove a point!)

At this moment neither are really good enough if we want to truely kick on to the next level. But at least Jay would be happy to play a more reserve roll.

Play him in an offensive role and he'll offer things going forward. Last night, as all this season, he has been asked to play deep. It was always Jay slightly ahead of him. Not because Lucas is inferior going forward, but because he is more experienced and sitting in front of the back 4.

He does a simple, yet crucial job, very very well. Break up the play, win the ball, give it. Hamann-esque.

Lucas is 24 or 25 I think.

If Lucas keeps improving then I think he'll be as good as Hamann.

It will be very interesting this summer to see if Commolli is in for a top quality defensive midfielder or not.

Ah yes, Lucas is 24, you're right. Only turned 24 in January though

He's doing the same job as Hamann did for us, and doing it well. He may not be at Hamann's peak level yet, but he's better than Didi was at 24. I wouldnt mind another DM but i'd want one of the 'beast' variety, because Lucas isnt a beast. He is very good though.
