Suppose we will have to disagree there then mate. I personally think Jay will be with us for a few years yet.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostSorry mate, but I think he needs shipping out in the summer and he won't be anything but a championship player or a relegation team player.*Except Michael, who died.

People liking local lads or English players really annoys you doesn't it? There doesn't have to be some paranoid reason you know. He's played well in games so gets complimented on it. It's nothing to do with where he's from. Same reason Insua got praised despite having bad games, same with Lucas and as far as I'm aware they weren't born locally.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostNot really, look through old threads about his performance and you will see the same pattern, people are just desperate for him to succeed because he is local imo.
You've got to seperate your utter hatred of English people from actual reality.

Erm, nope, it doesn't, otherwise Gerrard would not be my favourite player, but nevermind. I also think Johnson and Kelly are very good and Carragher has been excellent for us.Originally posted by Chris View PostPeople liking local lads or English players really annoys you doesn't it? Have you seen any old Lucas threads?
I doubt I am the only one who thinks that people are hoping Spearing to succeed and won't see fault in him because he is local, it has been mentioned before.
You do realise I am English don't you.

Yep, criticism and praise, just like all the Spearing or Insua ones.Originally posted by Mattshark View Post

You're right to be fair, Arn went on about it a lot. Another Scouse/English hater. Who wont see fault in him though, what usernames?Originally posted by Mattshark View PostI doubt I am the only one who thinks that people are hoping Spearing to succeed and won't see fault in him because he is local, it has been mentioned before.

Spearing isn't good enough.
The praise he does get is because he is a scouser, there is no-way fans would build him up like some do if he was from London let alone a foreigner brought in as a young player.
A 7/10 performance in a local derby doesn't change that. What he did provide however was more balance in the midfield allowing Gerrard to push on more but the credit for that goes to Kenny for selecting the team that way.
Jay can run around, shut the ball down and pass backwards and sideways, he isn't a bad footballer and I'd be happy for him to stay with us as a squad player but we need better than him to play with Lucas or instead of Lucas as first back up in that sitting/defensive type role if we are to get back in the top 4.The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

You might want to look up where he was born.Originally posted by The Birdman View PostThe praise he does get is because he is a scouser
More paranoid nonsense, early Lucas, Insua and now Henderson were and are loved by plenty. And who really builds him up that much? I dont ever see anyone saying he should be a regular. Can you provide some links to who's doing this?Originally posted by The Birdman View Postthere is no-way fans would build him up like some do if he was from London let alone a foreigner brought in as a young player.

Ridiculous. How many people praising him are even Scouse and have an affinity for local lads. I certainly don’t and know a lot of others that rate him too that aren’t.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I certainly don't differentiate as to what part of the country he is from. I'm sure there is a tiny minority from Birkenhead who want him to do well by ignoring his talents. But that's about it. But to say he gets special praise because of where he comes from is rather too simple of a reason.*Except Michael, who died.

Blatantly shouldn't be a regularly starter but he's a tidy passer and positionally pretty sound. Obvious he struggles in the air (
) and doesn't offer much going forward.
Last night he performed pretty well - did his job, allowed Gerrard to break forward and was helped by a poor Everton.James Philip Milner Fanclub #1
