If we can get 1 million & get his wages off the books, happy days IMO & best of luck to the lad elsewhere.

                  Jay Spearing

Under the circumstances, last season I genuinely thought Spearing, overall, did OK. His job, was to replace Lucas after he missed the majority through injury. He didn't get off to the greatest start, being sent off wrongly at Craven Cottage, arguably costing us the game. He has looked out of place amongst the Liverpool team at times, but take into consideration he is only young. Lucas is one of our most important players, he is a rock infront of our back-line. We do not have anybody in our squad to do Lucas' job as effective as he does. Spearing is the closest to a replacement we have. As for any transfer news regarding Jay Spearing, he has been linked with 3 clubs consisting on Bolton Wanderers, Leicester City and Nottingham Forest. It is though, Leicester City and Nottingham Forest are his preferred choices, this is what I have been told via a source. Would anybody like to see him at Anfield next season? I'd like to see him go out on loan, rather than to be offloaded permanently. He will gain experience as a young player, and may come back better. It's no secret, in the midfield area we are congested. Allen, Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson, Adam, Shelvey, Spearing. Adam is set to be offloaded with Everton and Fulham with enquires, though he doesn't want to leave, so to have Spearing leave would make sense. However, I wouldn't complain if he stayed.

                      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Jay was exposed at just how poor his positional play was last season, even before he was sent off v Fulham they we constantly getting in behind him.
And he is 23, he is 24 in a couple of months, he isn't going to be any were near good enough even as cover. The Lucas comparison is an utterly erroneous one too.

Spearing is still here because of Kenny and the Bodge, had any other manager been in charge during that period IMO he would have been moved on

I think he did ok first half of last season but struggled second (like a lot of our players). I don't think he's half as bad as he's made out by some and agree he has the potential to improve whilst out on loan. Unless we got a decent offer for him I'd be happy to see him go out on loan in the hope he could push for a place when he returns or at the very least increase in value. I don't think size is essential as the likes of Makelele, Davids or even Allen have proven, but Jay does seem to get out-muscled far too easily and his tendency to always dive in and go for the ball is a bit worrying.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I'm in the minority but I think Jay is a useful squad member. He is on relatively low wages and I don't see the sense in moving him on for one or two million when we don't actually have a better back-up player at the moment.

I think he will play well tonight.
