Interesting. He's another who seems to fit the profile.

Isn't he an LFC fan? I know Torres is his hero.

    Or used to be.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

The success thing I can understand, what I can't understand is why people would want the personality here, especially now we're experiencing the personality of The King (again).

But we've been through all this before so...

Or the other bloke who suggested Kenny would be a disaster before he'd even been given the job

          Good point

He'd be my second choice in fairness. Rafa that is, not Arn.

yeah, he's supposed to be touted as the next Alan Shearer...mind you, that's not bad seeing how Shearer stepped up when he joined Blackburn under Dalglish...

Who is the bloke Lec? There are some right muppets on that site who like to make things up.

Reece, the only nagging little thought at the very back of my mind (and this will in no way lessen my delight when Kenny finally gets the job) is that it'll mean no Villa Boas. He looks like he could be the real deal and, given his age, would be the long term managerial wet dream. Our situation before Kenny stepped back in would have made us an ideal club for him to come to and if it's not going to be this summer then I don't think he'll ever come.

That said Kenny has a good few years in him yet so I'm not sure what I'm being picky for. I'll be made up when he gets it, but if he didn't and Villa Boas did then I wouldn't be unhappy with the decision.
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

No that's all fair, and I kind of agree. From my limited knowledge on Villas Boas he does seem very impressive, and would perhaps be the perfect long term option. As you say though, if we miss out now and he goes to somewhere like Chelsea or Real Madrid, will we realistically have the option again in the future?

It's just to me (and I mean this as no slight on Rafa - mainly Hodgson and the previous American owners), I've not really enjoy football much for the last couple of years. Kenny is the one man who I'm almost certain will reverse that. In fact he already has.

There was chat about Villa Boas on a football podcast the other day. Apparently he really wants a crack at the Champions League with Porto so he'll stay on for another year at least.

Makes sense - he is still very young and clearly has a bright future.

If he continues to progress and becomes available further down the line then that is fine and we should be interested, however right now Kenny is the best option and I will be amazed if he is not appointed.

Villas Boas is too young, maybe in 10 years time if he is successful. I don't know why so many people are creaming over what he has done at Porto, lots of managers have come and walked the league there as well.
                          Are we winning?

Fergie is what 9 years older than Kenny and still at the top. I'm not sure you have to view Kenny as a short term appointment. I also think it is probably more important that we have someone willing to work with the youth set up for the long term than it is to get an up and coming manager.

The thing is that a lot of managers have looked great from afar, but not all translate to the PL. Remember Juande Ramos.

Yeah, but Ramos's failure can probably be fairly levelled at that French bloke he was working with a Spurs so i dont see how that would apply to us.
