Nearly as pointless as certain posters still embarrassingly under the impression that Gerrard is the best player, ever - despite not performing(consistently) for 2 years.

Take off the red tinted glass folks - the skipper isn't the force he once was. Get over it.

He is still a very good player and your pointless and consistent whinging about him don't change that. And if you think Spearing is a better option then you are insane. Also, do you not think that there might be some circumstances around his performances this season? Probably not.

Meireles isn't a left winger. That to me was broke.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

He was average v Man Utd. He was also carrying an injury so no point judging him on that performance.

A winning team is not a team that has won only 1 in 3. If they'd swept all aside in his absence you may have a case. But they haven't. Not by a long chalk.

But it is. 1 win in 3 is broke enough.

So if we would not play Stevie if he is healthy who would play instead?

                Spearing, Poulsen?

Come on Rudo.. Not even you believe any of those would be a better choice than SG any day of the week ever.

He's not playing well, and hasn't been for too long, period.

If/when he starts getting somewhere back to his best, then he'll deserve the praise that comes with it, however when that's not the case then he's open to criticism.

I'm talking about the next game...nothing other than that.
Spearing deserves to play, Gerrard doesn't. (even if he's fit to play)

                      He doesn't Rudo mate.

You cannot measure the performance of a player (Spearing) on a single game and neglect the fact that Stevie's season has been affected by suspensions and injuries which in a way influenced his form. At 50% of his capabilities he is still better than Spearing on his best day.

Look from this point. If they are both in ManU or Chelsea do you think that Fergie or Ancheloti would pick Stevie (still one the best in his position) or Spearing that had a single decent game and had no premiership experience whatsoever?

Would be proper harsh to leave Spearing out after his last performance and bring back a player that isn't doing it.

Suspensions and injuries are part and parcel of a footballer's career - look at Charlie Adam for example... back from injury and suspension lately and look how he's performing. That's just one of many example.s

Ufhh..Ask yourself why Fergie was playing injury-plagued Rooney even when he was no factor (in a way still is) and truly awful for a long time this season. It must be a reason for it...

Also going back to your Adam example.

So if Blackpool were able to win over Chelsea by some chance and Southern (bench player normally), who I think replaced Adam in that game, would have had a great game, by your reasoning, Adam would not be featured next game?

                          Never Rudo never.

Gerrard is different class and that is why he will walk into our team as soon as he is fit. Even if we had played ten games on the bounce, winning evryone of them 10-0 with the best football you've ever seen, Kenny would still put him in the starting line up because quite rightly he'd think that Stevie could help us win the following game 11-0.

Quite simply if he's fit for West Brom he should and will play. We only have one competiotion and we have a weeks rest between games now, no excuse not to play him now if he's available.

I know he had an injury, the average performance isn't a criticism, i wasn't expecting much from him on that day to begin with and rightly so.

Gerrard isn't a must in the starting XI. He was that a couple of years ago but it is around 18 months since he showed that he is a key player for us.

He is a good option to have. KK should do what Fergie did with players like Scholes and Giggs. Play the player maybe in two games out of three and place him on the bench in the third one. He shouldn't walk straight back into the starting XI just because he is Gerrard. He must earn his place in the team like all the other players.

It isn't Gerrard's fault that his body can't cope playing every game. Happens to everyone.

He was a key player but he is now a squad player.
