Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish today confirmed Daniel Agger will miss the rest of season with a knee injury.

      Agger blow, Stevie latest

Agger limped out of the Reds' clash at West Bromwich Albion at the weekend and has been ruled out of action for at least two months.

Glen Johnson also faces a spell on the sidelines after sustaining a hamstring injury at the Hawthorns, while the Reds are still waiting to discover the extent of the problem which forced captain Steven Gerrard to miss Saturday's game.

Dalglish told Liverpoolfc.tv: "Daniel has a problem with the tendon behind his knee and won't be involved again this season.

"He'll be out for a couple of months before he can start training.

"Glen Johnson has a hamstring problem which is usually about three or four weeks and it's the same for Martin Kelly.

"We will know about Steven at the end of the week. He will be assessed and we'll see what the story is.

"It's disappointing for the players because they want to play in every game. We're getting towards the end of the season but if you're injured you're injured.

"We feel for them but the most important people at the football club are the ones who are fit and able to play. We have to get on with what we've got.

"Fabio Aurelio and Jonjo Shelvey are training again and David Ngog had a game for the reserves on Monday. So we've lost some but we've got a few back."

        4th is still on.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

according to Tomkins - basically he's good for half a season - we need some players that aren't crocks!

paul_tomkins Agger averaged 26 apps (all comps) over past 5 seasons, one more on average than Aurelio. Ledley King 18, Jonathan Woodgate 14.

He was benched a few months this season when he was fit and Rafa played Skrtel instead of Agger a few months until Skrtel got injured.

The appearance thing doesn't give the full picture because you don't see if the player was benched or injured.

Why are all our good players crocks? When will Kuyt and Lucas miss a game FFS ?

If he was benched it would be down to loss of form and with Agger he's been injured on and off since his first metertasal injury in his 2nd season with us.

You do know that we had a manager that wanted Agger to play more British style football and not that crap carry the ball type of thing?

It's not always because of form. Sometimes it is because the manager is a weird one.

arn you accuse the english of bias towards english players. is it possible that you are biased and cant see that agger is a crock.

very good footballer very important but you just cant have someone that important injured so often.

you can argue that he would be less injured in spain. However there is a small problem with that and its Liverpool dont play in la liga.

Time to part our ways. The money we're spending on his wages could bring in a decent and reliable replacement. Lets face it, hes never going to stay fit.

I think he is worth keeping - even if he plays fewer games. We do need to bring in a replacement though. Someone who at least to some degree provides the same ease on the ball and willingness to run into midfield he does. In some ways I think Ayala might help with the former from what I have seen.

Isn't he on something like £60k a week? Seems a lot to be spending on a squad player.

I was gonna post a pic of Joe Cole, but he's made such little impact here that you have to go to page 4 on Google images to see him in a Liverpool kit.

Realistically we will be paying that to any player of note. Letting someone of his quality, who makes a real difference to the first team when he plays, go because he has a salary probably of similar size to Jovanovic seems like prioritising things wrongly to me.
