Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Not really major concern to me. Were playing to keep sixth place now which is depressing. But thats about it. He can have a nice long break for the summer and come back in August fresh and ready to go.

This is probably the best time this could have happened. We are playing for nothing, so Stevie can get right, rest all summer (no pointless England games), then come August he will be fully fit raring to go

Maybe he should do what Tomkins said. Quit playing for the national team. He clearly can't cope playing both for us and England. Not his fault. He is only human like all of us.

If he continue to play for the national team then he will get injured more often thanks to that. If he isn't a total idiot then he know that.

It is his decision. We need a 100% focused and fit Gerrard and we won't get that if he play for the national team.

Perhaps we should adopt the less strenuous training regimes recommended by Hiddinks fitness coach for getting players to play more frequently. I'm not sure that there is one single solution to this and given Gerrard's recent 'England is the pinnacle' interview I doubt he will be retiring from the national team.

well i did say we wouldn't get 5th never mind 4th about month or two ago - this has just confirmed it

Just got too hope that what players we have left do enough in the remaining games to secure 6th - i could live with that

It is a big problem. This is not an attack on Gerrard. I just think it is bloody selfish to continue to play for the national team when you have big injury problems.

Agger is in the same situation. He isn't as old as Gerrard but playing for the national team affects how much he can play for us. When Agger gets fit and stay fit for several months then he can play for the national team again IMO, not before then.

That puts the national team before the club that pay your wages and that shouldn't happen.
