Who else loves the fact the manager looks likes he truly enjoys every goal we score? Kenny's face is brilliant. This is definately the club I fell in love with all those years ago.

Watched the game in a pub in chiswick, maxi scores and this lad comes in and says **** missed it, he goes back outside, hears the cheer as the next goal goes in and he looks gutted, what's up mate?
He opens his wallet and unleashes a mamouth cock, no he doesn't but he does get out 3 tickets for him and his mates for the game, but as they are in the fulham end he couldn't face it, the third goal goes in and they catch a cab to the game. then about 5 minutes from the end they turn up again, they had been refused entrance and had missed all the goals!

Flanagan looked good again even though played at left back. very assured.

Spearing is revelling at the moment.

    Thoroughly enjoyed the game.

I just worry this form is papering over the cracks a little and some players still need to be moved on. What a big big summer this will be.

That'd be a strong midfield and allow the full backs to get up the pitch to support the inside forwards or winger. Obviously signing another winger would be great and possibly another creative playmaker in the middle. That's what Id be aiming at. I think Carroll would be effective. Obviously there'd be plenty room for rotation for the likes of Meireles and Maxi.
              Kuyt Gerrard Midfielder Winger
              Suarez Carroll

This is how I expect us to line up next season, Kenny loves Kuyt and won't keep him out of the team and I can understand that.

You must have a natural, top class winger in the team to get the best out of our front two. If we don't have players who are threats out wide, we won't be able to consistently break down teams because they'll clog the middle.

Suarez needs to be treated as a forward. The fact that he can drift wide and take players on doesn't mean we need to start moving him around to accommodate other players or accommodate a formation. He's our freaking best player, and in my eyes, it's a ridiculous notion.
Second strikers are supposed to do what he does, they don't spend their entire time in the middle behind the target man anyway.

And playing Carroll without wingers is just completely wasting him. This whole "Full backs will provide the width" is one of the biggest misconceptions in football today. Full backs are the second waves of attack, you isolate them out wide with nobody to link up with or take the attention away from them and they become easy to stop and predictable.

I really don't understand why Gerrard should be in the starting XI next season. He is a good player but if we sign another central midfielder and a wide player then Gerrard simply will be on the bench.

The only way he would take a place in the starting XI would be if we played with three central midfielders.

Should we change the system and formation just to fit in Gerrard? That is what must happen if you want him in the team. He won't be in the starting XI if we continue to play 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1.

This is not an anti Gerrard post. Everyone have seen for themselves that Gerrard isn't a key player now. He is a good option to have but not a must.

Very much depends on if he can get fit again and stay fit. Very much also depends on if he can up his game. If he can't then he should be on the bench and fight for a place.

4-3-3 with Gerrard or 4-4-2 without him?

Gerrard is still one of the world's best, who would grace any midfield. Yes we are playing well at the moment, but Stevie will take us to a higher level. Can't believe people still doubt him. The guy is a Liverpool legend.

Gerrard playing this style of football with Suarez at al would have a ****ing field day IMO.

Still one of the best in the world at what he does and it takes the pressure off him as well, there are others that can produce in big games for us !

Oh please, after last night, can we just leave the Gerrard-bashing for just one day?

We also played some good attacking football against City with Carroll in the side

I think provided Suarez plays then the ball will spend more time on the floor than in the air irrespective of who else is on the pitch

I don't doubt him but who should he replace in a 4-4-2? Lucas is a must. If we sign a central midfield playmaker then no place for Gerrard in the middle. If we sign a very good wide player then no place for Gerrard as a wide player.

The only way he would get a place would be if we played 4-3-3. In a 4-4-2 with a couple of good signings then there is no place for Gerrard.

No player should get an place just because of their name.

We play better, less direct football when Carroll isn't in the side. I wouldn't mind seeing him as an alternative from the bench, £35m worth or not.
