Would still easily be one of the biggest transfers of all time, with only Bale and Ronaldo costing more, both when several years younger and without the same issues.

Not wanting to be here and wih a tendency to miss massive chunks of the season and drag our name through the mud, yes.Originally posted by TheElephantMan View PostHis issues being that he's one of the best players in the world with a tendency to bite.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

However, if he moves to Barca I can imagine he would have to kill somebody on the pitch for something similar to happen.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostNot wanting to be here and wih a tendency to miss massive chunks of the season and drag our name through the mud, yes.
For me 70 million would be a good price, and I trust us to invest most of it correctly and continue building. Will we miss him, sure - any team would, but I think we will continue to improve overall and as a group reach a higher level.

He did well for us last season in spite of those popular assumptions. I don't care what he does if he continues to bang 30+ goals per season for us. For what it's worth I firmly believe that he's gone. It's early in the transfer window and we should wait until we get the best offer we possibly can for him.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostNot wanting to be here and wih a tendency to miss massive chunks of the season and drag our name through the mud, yes.

Also the success/failure of this transfer will depend on how we spend the money, not how much money we get. At any amount greater than 70 million we know have the opportunity to take this team to the next level.

I firmly believe we agreed last summer to let him go this summer if he agreed to stay one more year to help us get into the CL. The new deal was all about a pay rise to compensate for that.
The longer we leave it in the transfer window, it's advantage to the buyers. FSG are doing everything right imo, it's not like Torres, we knew this one was coming, get it done now, give us time to rebuild. He is gone, and I'm sure we will have an improved squad to cope in the CL, thanks to the sale of Suarez. Economics.

Jackson Martinez would be my choice I think, he's ready to make the jump and we'd be a decent step above for him.Originally posted by squaddie View PostIf it was to go ahead, who realistically could we bring in as a replacement/buffer... I've heard Balotelli's name banded about. The times they are a changin'.

I'd look to get Griezman in to play on the left and Reus for the right.
Around 60m spent right there and our side will be absolutely ****ing deadly. Then 10 on this Orgy dude and we're well and truly covered in the forward spots.
Just leaves Left back and CB to sort"When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah

Yep he's no spring chicken any more. He's also one transgression away from an extremely severe ban. I think that has to be taken into account somewhat.
