Nah, he'll light up La Liga and we'll be pissed off without his game-changing genius. I think we'll struggle for top 4 next season now as we adjust. £71 is low but not quite as bad as I feared.

He probably will but we've had some good times with him and he's dreamt of this move since before we bought him. As stepping stones go, we've faired pretty well. His wages were massive too and that will free up another £30m over the next 3 yearsOriginally posted by RoboKop View PostNah, he'll light up La Liga and we'll be pissed off without his game-changing genius. So he will be the 3rd most expensive of all time?
Dont think its comparable to Bale either. He might be a better player, but Bale was 3 years younger, and infinitely more marketable than Suarez.
Pretty hard to pin a marketing campaign on someone who has bitten 3 different people and been banned for racism. That thing plays out the the wider public.
Also that Alan Shearer name popping up amongst those greats made me lol
*Except Michael, who died.

Neymar's total transfer value was something like £71million-£72million once Barcelona's dodgy dealings were scrutinised.
If that price is true, it seems that we've met halfway. Barcelona apparently valued a deal at £60million. We valued a deal at £80million.
If the £70million deal is true, then of course, instinctively, I am a bit gutted inside, because I feel he's worth much more. We'll have to see.

Is he worth more than Neymar though? Neymar is much younger and an absolute worldwide star already. His marketing potential is pretty much unrivalled. He's a better player than Neymar, but I'm not sure he's worth more.
I think anywhere £80m and we can be extremely happy with the fee, and equally extremely devastated that he'll never play for us again

Can't see the graphic in work, but Shearer was a f*cking great player. We may be put off by him now, having to listen to him on TV every week, but he was an outstanding striker.Originally posted by Alex View PostSo he will be the 3rd most expensive of all time?

This is going to be awful seeing us without him....especially after the heartbreak of last season. Really wanted him to stay and win the PL with us but even that looks like it will be so much tougher this season."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

Yep, he was an amazing striker and deserves his place in that last to he honest.Originally posted by RedReet View PostCan't see the graphic in work, but Shearer was a f*cking great player. We may be put off by him now, having to listen to him on TV every week, but he was an outstanding striker.

He was a dirty f*cker no doubt, but I'd have loved to have had him here.Originally posted by Alex View PostNever liked him at the time. One dimensional and selfish. Also the most snide player I think I've ever seen I think.
And he always got credit in my book for snubbing United.
