Suarez isn't going anywhere this season. I'm pretty certain.

    All that's happened is this:

Reporter: ".....would you talk to a CL club if they came in for you"

Suarez: "I'd have to talk to them if they came in for me"

HEADLINE: SUAREZ WANTS TO LEAVE LIVERPOOL GIVING THE TEAM THE V's

Its like if you worked for Fred Perry, and Armani offered you a job, you'd talk to them but you'll probably say no because you love Fred Perry.

Poor analogy I know. But you can see what I'm trying to say.

I get your point. Think you're probably not far from the truth there.

He was an absolutely brilliant player, and was with Barnes the key element in arguably the greatest footballing side in English football history.

Arn, on the one hand you say that you can't compare players from different eras, and then do exactly that by saying that Luis is more valuable to the team than any other player ever has been. So the fact that he's had one great season in a team that has won nothing makes him more valuable to the team than Gerrard was for several years, during which time we won the CL and FA Cup, or McManaman was before Gerrard? Sorry, but in your own words, you can't compare different eras.
I'm 43 thanks and don't have to justify my opinion based on the position of Peter beardsley on some list and how you feel it should have any bearing on me thinking suarez is a genuine world class player and one of the best I have seen pull on the shirt.
His passing is incredible, his workrate is unreal,he doesn't get injured and he also happens to score a lot of goals despite (or because of) FA and press complicity turning him into some kind of comic book villain.

How long time a player played for us really doesn't matter. If for example Messi signed for us then he would most probably be our best ever player after only playing for us a few months.

It is how good he is that matters.

Xabi only played for us a few years but he is without any doubt at all one of our best ever players.

Torres only played for us a few years but what he achieved during that time was just fantastic. One of our best ever players.

If we sell Suarez in the summer then he shouldn't drop down any list of our best ever players because of that.

I see your point but I'm not sure it matters so much that we all need to adhere to a predetermined policy.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

We told him we can be a stepping stone to Tottenham obviously.

The footballing world isn't stupid, they talk now in terms of projects and the BR project was good enough to entice the future Brazil no 10. We are also looking at Dede I saw somewhere, but if not him others of that calibre.

Worst. Criteria. Ever. On that basis Brad Friedel must be the greatest player in the history of football.

Yes, I can. Until I've seen Suarez operate at this level for several years for LFC, which isn't likely unless we get CL, he is still behind Dalglish, Gerrard, Barnes, Rush, Souness, Keegan, Hughes and probably a few more in terms of consistency and overall contribution. Don't get me wrong, he's a great player, but he's not operated consistently at the level that all of those hit for us yet.

My point about Beardsley is simple. If he only makes number 44 for giving us a couple of outstanding years, the suggestion that Suarez jumps straight in at number 1 on the basis of what we've seen so far is daft. I'd be delighted if in four or five years he's given me no option but to change my view.

Putting Suarez straight in at number one is a bit like the Radio 1 polls for best ever song, where nothing more than about two years old gets in the top ten. People did play football quite well before 2012, you know.

                          Really?

Up until this season, Suarez has been above average. He has talent, but the application of the talent has only come to fruition this season. He had been one of the most wasteful finishers I think I have ever seen.

Personally, I would not swap Fowler at his best for any striker in the world. His finishing was amazing, and while he didnt have a lot of fancy footwork, he had a tremendous amount of skill. What many "great" players could do with several touches Fowler could do with one.

Perhaps is he stays and continues this form beyond one season, he could join those illustrious names. I dont think he is there yet though.
In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

No argument with your top three. I would put Jocky Hansen next, then it's a close one between John Barnes and Luis for fifth. Luis could move up to 4th if he carries on as he has for a few more seasons.

Its all about the age of who is giving the answer though isnt it? If asked Id say Barnes was our best ever player. Ive never seen anyone use the ball better than him in a Red shirt.

But you ask someone 10 years older than me they might say Dalglish.

I think a lot of kids growing up now a days will have Suarez as pretty high on their list. Just like people 10 years younger than me will say Gerrard for his CL and FA cup final wins.

So I take the view that Daglish/Barnes/Gerrard are our best ever players. Impossible to separate. Suarez is in that group behind.
