The question isnt who is consistently the best though is it? Its more about ability I thought. As I said, Suarez is up there. Just nothing like Barnes or Gerrard in there day from what I watched.
Also, Gerrard is the best player I have ever seen play live. He was totally unplayable in 2007-2009.*Except Michael, who died.

But you ask someone 10 years older than me they might say Dalglish.
I think a lot of kids growing up now a days will have Suarez as pretty high on their list. Just like people 10 years younger than me will say Gerrard for his CL and FA cup final wins.
So I take the view that Daglish/Barnes/Gerrard are our best ever players. Impossible to separate. Suarez is in that group behind.
What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

Suarez been totally unplayable this season and that with probably our worst midfield since the stoneage behind him.Originally posted by Alex View PostThe question isnt who is consistently the best though is it? What he done this season is more than fantastic or excellent, it is much better than that.
Many fans says that Gerrard carried the team many years but he had some fantastic players behind him like Xabi and Masch. We also had Kuyt, probably the most hard working player out there. Gerrard got a lot of space because of that. He didn't had to do a lot of work himself like Suarez must do this season.
Suarez is simply the best player in the league right now and that with some distance. Bale or RvP isn't even close.
Not even Ronaldo at his best at United was as good as Suarez is now.
IMO Suarez season is the best ever by any player in a long time.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a

Think you are letting your dislike of Gerrard get in the way here mate. You could say the exact same thing for Messi. Xavi, Ineista, Villa, Alves and Busquets all do the work for him. Messi essentially moves for about 10 minutes a game. Those 10 minutes are pure magic. But it doesnt detract from him that the others do the hard work.Originally posted by Arn View PostSuarez been totally unplayable this season and that with probably our worst midfield since the stoneage behind him.

Dalglish, Gerrard, Barnes would be my top 3 (in that order)
The thing is when you look at the list of all time players it makes you weep. We've had some incredible players over the years
In fact I'd quite happily take some of the players from the second or third tier down from the trinity mentioned aboveBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Suarez needs to play for us for several seasons before being compared to Barnes/Dalglish/Gerrard etc. He might do a Torres, and although a very good player for us for 2 season, it's hardly comparable to any of the greats.
He has the ability, determination and drive to be one of the best players in a red shirt, but he needs to prove it over a longer period of time with some consistency to it.

Yep, just think of the players in the Prem era alone who are all time greats.Originally posted by Lecter View Post

Fowler, Owen, Hyypia, Hamman, Carragher, Alonso, Torres, Reina and Biscan.
Its amazing how many legends we have had play for us.

You look at the Premier League era players you've listed and I'm none to sure any of them would have got into the team of the late 70's & 80's and yet they are absoutely world class players in some casesOriginally posted by Alex View PostYep, just think of the players in the Prem era alone who are all time greats.

My personal top 5:
1. Gerrard
2. Rush
3. Barnes
4. Torres
5. Dalglish
It is a personal thing and in my lifetime watching Liverpool I would say those players have made the biggest impact on me, in that order obviously.
We are so lucky we have had dozens of absolutely brilliant players over the years, so any top 5 is going to be tough to pick!"Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley
