I think a huge amount of credit has to go to Brendan. His antics on the field have dramatically improved over the course of the season. Tbh last season with the evra debacle and all the diving I wasn't too fussed if we got rid of him. Completely different player this year and we are reaping the benefits

Which is fair enough, but it was an odd way to introduce yourself considering we've just won from behind even against Villa its something we've lacked for a few seasons. Added to West Ham and Tottenham (am I missing more?).Originally posted by Philgas View PostLol big chief I'm allowed my opinion as you are !!!! I am a season ticket holder in the kop , have been for some considerable time I'm not anti BR and appreciate he is only a new manager in the prem and I hope he comes good
Anyway, since you don't trust Rodgers with £50m? Can I ask why? Is it because of the players he's signed? or the players we've been linked with?Vive la France

It's more to do with his signings I just think he needs to thing long and hard before buying players that might've good in a few years , we have that already at the youth level and reserves I think we need proven players from now on and if that means only one signing per season do be it , I might not have come across as a true fan on my first post but was just throwing a thread out to test the water and so far so good lol ynwa

Nothing to do with being a 'true fan' mateOriginally posted by Philgas View PostIt's more to do with his signings I just think he needs to thing long and hard before buying players that might've good in a few years , we have that already at the youth level and reserves I think we need proven players from now on and if that means only one signing per season do be it , I might not have come across as a true fan on my first post but was just throwing a thread out to test the water and so far so good lol ynwa
You've got to consider the position we are in, it's difficult to buy players that are ready now and good enough because they'll all ready be or will be to wanting to play in the CL.
When you buy younger players with the potential to get there, they're more likely to come because at the moment they would get less minutes playing in teams better placed than us. So we hope they perform beyond there years, get us into the CL and we attract players that are already developed.
Tough situation but its where we are IMO.Vive la France

Thing is even if we get champs league we will never get the cream coz the Cfc and the mancs just snap them up , I understand what your saying and when I mean proven I mean the likes of Allen and boroni Ffs that's a lot of money for two players that if honest just arnt good enough if where to keep progressing

I agree that the Allen and Borini deals seem poor at the moment and the money could have been used much better. I put those deals down almost like comfort zone signings, went for players he's worked with before and its backfired. I think he'll learn from it personally or at least I hope he does!Originally posted by Philgas View PostThing is even if we get champs league we will never get the cream coz the Cfc and the mancs just snap them up , I understand what your saying and when I mean proven I mean the likes of Allen and boroni Ffs that's a lot of money for two players that if honest just arnt good enough if where to keep progressingVive la France

I think BR realises we are not that far away if we can get 2 or 3 quality signings."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

You're right about the comfort zone / familiarity signings, although I'm not sure how much they really have "backfired" rather than just not really working out so far. Borini has had a harsh season with injuries etc and is really young. I've not been that impressed when he has played but he is well thought of in Italy and unlike an Aquilani, is not on big wages so we won't have an issue selling him back for a minimal loss if needed.Originally posted by Robbie-9-Fowler View PostI agree that the Allen and Borini deals seem poor at the moment and the money could have been used much better. Allen's fee does look much too big right now, although it is hard to tell how much his injury has effected him over the season. He did show enough in the early games of the season to indicated that he can does have some quality about him. I'd hope we learned from the Lucas experience not to write players off too early.
Regardless, plenty of managers sign players who don't exactly work out and I really don't consider Allen and Borini, signed when Rodgers had been at the club all of 5 minutes, as certain evidence that he won't sign players of the required quality going forward. Indeed the way we addressed some of the issues in the squad with our signings in Jan seems to me to indicate the complete opposite.
Anyway, yeah, Suarez. Good isn't he?

Therefore I lied to please the mob.

And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?
