In the games this year against the big teams I don't remember him having a blinder that is all. Hardly a ridiculous criticism. I want more as I know he can produce. He's great but he can certainly do more at times, like most players. Now **** off back to the local jail and put your feet up, hell have a smoke if it helps.
So scoring against City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Everton doesn't count?

        Exactly.

As I said, ridiculous comment, but far from surprising.

I said I don't remember him playing a blinder in those games. There is a difference. Yes he has scored in more of those games than I originally could recollect. I stand corrected on that point. This season has been a blur of late. My original point wasn't even intended as a critism as such, I think he's been bloody good this season on the whole, but when the likes you get so ****ing defensive it makes we wonder what sort of place is this at times. Am I wrong to want him to turn some of those draws into wins? He's had chances to.

I’m defense because it’s blatantly not true and if it’s not pulled up then people start believing it and the criticisms become more vocal. It was similar to earlier in the season when he was criticized for not spreading his goals, but only scoring in patches against certain teams (Norwich), when again that wasn’t true at all because before this season he’d only scored more than one in a game a couple of times.

It makes me think of Chelsea situation when they made quotes up about Rafa, just to have something else to criticise him for. I just don’t get it at all and you’re not the only one. It seems some fans want to find fault, even when it’s not there (not to say he is flawless BTW).

Obviously I'd prefer Suarez to get it, he's a more skillful player, but we're sitting in 7th despite his efforts. Plus with all the on field antics these past 18 months, he is never going to be a players favourite. We love him and rightly so. He doesn't need an award for people to acknowledge his talents.
The big difference between Suarez and RvP is that Suarez do a lot defending, RvP don't. Even Rooney must play in midfield to help him out.

RvP is an excellent player but also very very lazy.

He didn't carry the team. You can also add that he should have had at least six red cards this season. All of them clear cut red cards. The referees have helped him out big time and that isn't something you can say about Suarez.

What's not true exactly? If I said he doesn't score if the big games, that would or could be seen as blatantly untrue. However I mentioned he didnt play a blinder, which is I would have thought quite a subjective observation and thus something that is neither true or untrue. For me you can play fantastic without scoring in a game. When dirk, another of your favourites you felt the need to put up the flood defences for, scored the hatrick against utd, Luis was unplayable that game, on another level. I want to see that level and a few match winners in the coming seasons. That is all. He's capable. He's brilliant.

We’ll not go in to the semantics of what was said or what words were used, the posts are there to be seen.

If you’re happy that you have a valid point, then fair enough.

Think I’ll retire back to the computing forum until the season is over.

whats with the bit at the bottom? You get over defensive and bugger off? bloody hell, we support the same team, we both want us to win, I stand by my original point, yet happen I was a little over zealous in my response. Lets get over it.

Does RVP often have blinders against big teams beyond scoring against them?

I don't think many in the world do, really.

If it's not going to be Suarez, I'd be gobsmacked if it were RVP. The recent goal drought seals that.

They get delivered the forms in 'Spring' (March some time according to the ever reliable Savage) and their club PFA rep collects them when they're done before they get sent off for counting so the shortlist can be announced.

Regardless, I'm not sure the voting system has any effect on my feelings as to how deserved the recipient is
