His bans have cost us massively and totalled up come to almost half a season. So for us not challenging the top 4 he is partly responsible.

Anzhi in the Europa League next season, but life at CSKA would be excellent.Originally posted by Tee View Post
Really is intent on leaving and has alienated himself here. No way back for him and I just hope he ends up at Anzhi. We need to get in touch with the cash rich Russian teams and get this finalised."Our legacy begets an excellence that surpasses the particulars of who produces it." -- David Carr

bOsman changed all that and contracts are deemed worthless.Originally posted by MrMichael View PostThe bite thing was blown out of proportion undoubtedly (10 games was massively excessive a ban) however he can hardly justify talking about it like it was someone else's fault
Thing is though, he signed a new contract last summer in full knowledge of where the club was at, and by any measure we then improved last season. So starting to whine about it now comes over quite poorly imo. I don't begrudge him wanting to play in the CL etc, but the tone of all this is pretty sour, especially after how the club has treated him.
The sooner something happens in football so that contracts actually become worth the paper they are written on the better.
maybe hes not been convinced by Rodgers and the path were taking, maybe he's had his head turned by another club, maybe his family hate it in England.
Maybe its all of these and more but it looks like he wants out. We have to accept it and start the bidding. A lot depends on cavani, once that deal is done then everything else might start falling into place.
its worrying because were now effectively a selling club and the longer it takes us to get back into the champions league the more we sill see of this. Next might be coutinho or even sterling.
If downing comes out and says we can't match his ambitions then its time to pack up.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

I can't believe he's saying the Ivanovic incident was 'decisive'. He ****ing bit him. That's where it begins and ends.
The fact that he lumps the bite in with the Evra incident actually makes me begin to doubt his version of events in that quite frankly, and I'm ****ing disgusted at that. I stood behind him unequivocally on that as I thought he was stitched up, but to put it on equal par to regards being wronged as the same as biting someone unprovoked?
Completely undermines his credibility that

You are very defensive of him. I want him to leave regardless of any of these so called comments he's made or not. He's lost my respect and in the murky world that football has become I want our players to behave better than he has. We used to be respected. I want that back. Just because the others act up, why should ours?
No problem.
I'll slate him if and when he deserves it - just not on the basis of churnalism.
As long as he's a Liverpool player I'll support him.
Same with FSG - they get my support unless they let Luis for another prem team.
Arn's right - we're no longer the draw we were and need to hang on to our few world class players and may have to pay a premium in wages to attract new ones.
Once we're back in the top 4 we'll be in a far better negotiating position and have more money to do it with.

I'm sorry mate, but you continue to live in a complete fantasy land when it comes to the running of our club. Where does this 50 million net spend a season come from exactly, be specific.Originally posted by Arn View PostIf we sell Suarez for say £50m then Rodgers should have at least £100m left to spend to strenghten the team.
That is what I expect from FSG, a £50m net transfer budget every season. We should be able to afford that because of the new TV deal.Cult Member. Nazi puncher.

I don't see what is wrong with what he has said (if he has said it), he wants to play in the CL - all footballers do, of course he is going to look at offers that he thinks would benefit his career. This changes nothing. IMO this is just the press stirring things up again after it being quiet for a while.
I still think that we have to try and keep him, and if that is no longer an option we have to make sure that 1) He goes to an overseas club and 2) we get the best fee we can.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

To be fair, the club will always want players to extend deals regardless as it protects their transfer value. I'd imagine if he hadn't extended his deal that we'd be looking at offers around £25m and a player in an even stringer position.Originally posted by MrMichael View PostThe bite thing was blown out of proportion undoubtedly (10 games was massively excessive a ban) however he can hardly justify talking about it like it was someone else's fault

As a fan you support the same team the whole life. That probably means a lot more than the few years a player can perform at his best.Originally posted by BrooklynRed View PostHere is the disconnect: the player says he has suffered without CL football... well, so have the supporters! The difference? We can't just change clubs based on their status over one or two years, chasing around glory. If a supporter did that, he would be a plastic cunt. In the culture of the game, players should know better than to evoke that emotion. It's funny, the player says he's suffered and it is hard to watch the league every week knowing you won't win it; NO ****. I can't get out there on the pitch and help us win the title, though. The power is is the hands of the players to take points and win... the club have catching up to do, but ****ing off after two years after everything he's done here, bans that have taken our best player off the pitch and cost us points, the balls it takes to throw that in the face of the club, true or not-- it's just stupid, incredibly blinkered and selfish.
But if he helps us lift the trophy next year, I won't give two ****s about it.
A player can't wait year after year when he is 25+ years.
You could also get a very bad injury that means that your time as a top class player is over. Look at Torres. Knee problems and suddenly his electric pace was gone.

Wait for what? Trophies? Being a great player does not entitle you to lift trophies. The thinking now seems to be if you're good enough, you play on one of four or five mega teams with limitless money and walk trophies. What is the point of that? Four or five sides battering everyone for trophies, you hop on the bandwagon, put in your time with that team, and win trophies? Yay for you. That's every player's goal now?Originally posted by Arn View PostA player can't wait year after year when he is 25+ years.
Uhhhh... I have a lot of problems with waiting for us to win... why is Suarez more entitled to winning than I am?Originally posted by Arn View PostAs a fan you can wait 15 years without any problem."Our legacy begets an excellence that surpasses the particulars of who produces it." -- David Carr
