This is true, but in this case there was clear evidence and an admission of guilt. That in itself makes it a lot easier to deal with than a situation where serious accusations are made with no witnesses and a denial of wrongdoing.

That said, with hindsight they clearly ballsed it up last time.
        Oh I don't know.

Anyway, as Neil said I think its just your posting style. Ill do my best to rememeber. Not everyone will though, so you will always get **** for it.

Time will tell what will happen.

All the right things is being said from our side but the media will most probably continue to slag him off a long time and that will make it worse than it really is and that means that we must continue to defend him in the media when we need to do it.

Biting someone really isn't dangerous and can't be compered to how dangerous a tackle with your studs up is but tackles like that happens so often that we don't really care about it but when someone bite another player then we react very strongly because it don't happen often.

Did Suarez get booked for the incident???

Thats the key thing the FA claim that retrospective action can undermine a referees decision and appropriate punishment

The FA would argue that the referee saw the Defoe incident and took action accordingly

Can we argue that same case for Suarez, I'm not sure frankly

The whole retrospective action thing annoys the **** out of me. It should take into account ALL decisions whether seen / punished by the referee or not

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Glad it's been dealt with quickly by the club, BR & IA. He's got his punishment from LFC & we should wait for any FA action. Fair play to the offer of anger management lol & well played Ivanovic for not making a bigger deal of it like the rest of the world seems to be doing. It was wrong to bite him but it's done now, partially dealt with so lets move on and support our player. I totally agree with Barnes and put into perspective it makes total sense!

Post match interviews with both managers was spot on.

No. I don't like his opinion because quite frankly it's bollocks. Where would LFC be without Suarez's goals v Where are they with his goals. He is saying there is no difference. Sorry, but when did the Premiership become a 7 team league? Without his goals we'd be nowhere. He had a pop at Carra and Gerrard too re winning nothing for 7 years. Sorry, but you don't get to have a go at them two, regardless of if he is Hamann or not

It's a continuing trend with him. Starting with his Barton spat, then his Thatcher tweets (some of which he deleted), his regular tweets if we win having a pop and these. The guy is a bellend. Just my opinion

I think that's the point I'm trying to make. If the Defoe incident is seen and only deemed a yellow card offence by the FA official than how can the FA then consider it to be any different?

Liverpool FC managing director Ian Ayre today provided an update on the incident that occurred involving Luis Suarez during Sunday's game with Chelsea. Here is what he had to say in full.

Ian, everyone is still talking about Sunday's incident with Luis Suarez. What is the latest on the situation?

I think the most important thing is that we acted swiftly yesterday. Luis issued his apology and then we spoke with him last night and then again this morning. We've taken action to fine Luis for his actions. Brendan has spoken to him and I've spoken to him, and Brendan will be working with him further on his discipline. You can see when you speak to him how sorry he is about it and he's certainly shown quite a lot of contrition to us - and as part of that, he's also asked we donate the fine to the Hillsborough Family Support Group. I think he felt like he let a lot of people down yesterday. We'll work with Luis - Brendan particularly - on this side of his character in his game. Hopefully that puts the matter to rest from our point of view and we'll wait and see if there's any further action from the football authorities.

Have you had any contact with the owners regarding this situation?

Yes, of course. With any incident like this, any major incident at the club, we're in direct dialogue with the owners, always. I spoke to them last night and they were happy with the way we were handling the matter.

Will the events of the last 24 hours have any bearing on Luis's future at Liverpool Football Club?
Not at all. It affects his future in the sense that we have to work with him on his discipline - but Luis is a very important player to the club. He's a very popular player with his teammates. As we keep saying, he signed a new four-year contract last summer and we'd all love to see him here throughout that contract. He's a fantastic player, top scorer and everything we'd want in a striker, so there's no change there. This is more about getting him back on the right track and it's largely down to Brendan now to work with him on that side of his character.

Fair play to Ayre for today's statement. He comes in for a lot of stick but think the club have acted pretty well on this one.

Lec, I think re. the booking etc, a few are quoting the Thatcher v Mendes incident as back-up to allow the FA to charge Suarez
