. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
Alonso, Mascherano and arguably Torres were the last world class players we sold, would you say we did a good job of replacing them ??
Just out of interest if we sold Luis for 50m who would you like us to replace him with ??
I don't want us to sell him, and we did a piss poor job of replacing the players mentioned above. Talk about misunderstanding the point I was trying to put across.
All I was trying to do was point out that other teams have had squad players step up when required.

Barca's squad players are Fabregas, Sanchez and Pedro, we have Sterling, Suso and Borini. Barcelona were the example you used earlier, yes ?
Eduardo was garbage. Wenger attracts players by being in the Top 4 and the style of football, more so Top 4. It will go belly up for them if they miss out on Top 4. I'd like to see if they still manage to sign Gotze etc
I'd rather Arsenal finish top 4 than not because if they miss out I suspect they will spend big to get back in.

Masch was replaced by Meireles, who was replaced by Charlie ****ing Adam. Torres was replaced by Carroll, who was replaced by Sturridge, apparently, and to be honest I don't think we ever replaced Xabi.
Piss poor replacements is a bit of an understatement. In relation to the players they replaced, of course.
Rome wasn't built in a day, but it wasn't built by the apprentice either.

To be honest we had massive financial restraints when we sold Alonso and Mascherano. When we sold Torres we ****ed up massively by spending £35m on a striker who was unproven at any sort of level with just 6 months of decent success in a side that play nothing like us.
We still managed to pick up Suarez though and Sturridge doesn't look too bad does he?
I'd be gutted if Suarez went but we couldn't replace him directly we'd just have to raise the entire standard to the squad maybe bring in 2 players with the money from his deal and another 1 or 2 quality players from other funds.
At the end of the day, if the PFA revoke his award/stop him winning it because of this, who are they gonna give it to? The cokehead Welshman who has performed more dives this year than Tom Daley, or the Dutchman who's had two good seasons out of eight, who has previously been arrested for rape?
The mind boggles.

Yes I understand that logic and can see why others would agree with it. What's the point in keeping him IF he gets a 9 game ban and 6 of those are the 1st 6 games of the PL season, we struggle for goals and are 10 points off the top 4 because Suarez is here but not available so we don't have him but we also haven't replaced him??
All the while bearing in mind there has been a lot written and said that IF he stayed it would be for 1 more season, that season being the one he was responsible for ruining before he's even available?
Well, i'd say, it would be great to have a signing like Suarez come into the team after 6 games of the season, and till then our new signings and players need to step up, and the manager needs to make us competitive with what he has till then.
Keeping Suarez should not mean we look to be a one man team for the duration of his time here, also, i'm not sure that if we were to sell him we'd replace him with anyone near as good, so we could still be 10points off top 4 next season if we sold him today, but wouldn't have Suarez to come back.
