He has a buy out clause which some sources put at £35 million and others at more than £40m. Liverpool will demand the totality of the buy out clause to release the player.
No **** sherlock. They put in a buy-out clause but will accept a bid way lower than that for someone who signed a new contract last summer.

Regardless of the fact he doesn't have a buy-out clause in his contract. ****

I remember when FSG took over they were p*ssed off that the likes of Reina had buy-out clauses in their contract. So yeah, they were going to put one in Suarez's for way below his market value.

If this is true then you could understand Ayre getting sacked.

        Thanks for that!

Now that is the Ballague we have all come to know and love.

I still think it's a 50/50 to be honest. My biggest fear was Barca coming in for him, there's no way we'd have prevented him going there. He'd have thrown in a transfer request without a doubt to go there. But now they've splashed an insane amount on Neymar I don't think Suarez will be on their radar. That's great news for us, but there's still teams like Real, Bayern and Juventus who would surely tempt him.

I hope he puts an end to the uncertainty one way or the other soon anyway. We need to know where we're working.
I am desperate...really do not want another Torres type situation where a key player leaves us, just when there is a feel good positive outlook at the club for the first time in years!

I love Suarez. Fantastic player. But I'm of the opinion that if he wants out, **** him. He has been backed by the club, fans, fellow players big time through ****-ups he made. If he decides he wants to move on then where is repaying the loyalty? He's made quite a few at the club and it's fans look like mugs but still worshiped and praised, even by Gerrard.

I'm really non-plussed about it now in all honesty

                We don't know that.

If the only way we could "force" Suarez to stay then I wouldn't rule out that we would accept a 40m buy-out clause.

Look at our situation back then. If Suarez would have left then FSG would have been in a very bad situation. The star player leaving would have sent out a lot of wrong signals and it would have been almost impossible to replace him.

It's almost unavoidable mate. We all knew in order to keep him we'd need to finish in the Champions League places. We haven't. We've finished 8th and 7th.

To be honest it would be extraordinary of him to stay given he's now in the prime of his career. The fact that there's even a chance he'll stay is pretty miraculous really and speaks volumes about his love for the club. I'm just not sure it will quite be enough when the likes of Madrid come calling though.

As others have pointed out, it's not (quite) the end of the world if he does leave. We seem to be much better at recruiting talent of late. Assuming we buy well (and it is a big assumption), there's actually a chance we could be a better team after he's gone.

Ballague is just some divvy who sits on the fence with every and any decent sized story.

It is ALWAYS an 'He may or may not leave' 'There may or may not be interest' or fabricates a story with 'The player may want to leave but the club don't want him to, but they might be willing to let him go if he wants to.. Maybe or not.'

Isn't Balague meant to be a Liverpool fan? Running this story really is a cuntish thing to do to the club if he is, basically doing the donkeys work for Madrid and other potential suitors.

Why would he support a team from England

He's a supporter of Rafa and probably a Madrid fan.

I agree it is a real danger he will go. I do think though that it is more than just a player problem - in the past we have seen how hard it is to rebuild a team when important players leave. It's not just replacing them in the starting eleven but it is the understanding and the momentum in terms of team building. I don't think we are good enough yet or have enough existing strength/depth to move forward if we lost Suarez. If he goes I really think we will have another season aiming for a Europa league spot.
