If "unsettled" means he and his family would rather live in Spain, then fine. I'm unsettled too.

I think one of the echo journalsists or someone Liverpool based rubbished that

It could be used as an excuse, of course, but we're all speculating and dismissing this and that without any factual data bar media speculation, hearsay, Twitter etc.
Yes, I think that's all fair. But still you do seem more committed than most to putting the best possible construction on events.

And mainly I just wanted to post a photo of a cat doing something stupid.
      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

You can't discard the fact that the media frenzy and caricaturing of his character isn't something that wouldn't harm his family's life here. Of course, they could all take it in their stride and say, "we're millionaires and we'll rise above it" but things are not as simple as this.

I agree with Shaggy. I’ve heard lots of people say things along the lines of “Suarez should give us one more season and if we’re not challenging for CL next year then I wouldn’t begrudge him leaving” – which is pretty much verbatim what people said last summer. The bottom line is that Suarez will get stick whenever he decides to leave and there’s no amount of level-headed “stay one more season” pleas that will prevent that. Football fans are fickle, hypocritical and sensationalist – and there’s no point pretending that we’re any different.

I’m not going to deny that I won’t be gutted if he goes. His antics are infuriating – bordering on embarrassing – but he really is a joy to watch. Some of the things he does are inspired and – with the last few years strewn with boring dross – he’s been the one shining light throughout. For the last two seasons, he’s been worth the entrance fee alone and has largely made up for perpetual mediocrity.

Why should the best player in England – and one of the top five in the world – play for the seventh best team in England? I’ll be devastated when he leaves, and gutted never to see him in the red again, but I’ll be grateful that I’ve seen him play for my team. As long as we get a decent fee – and spend it wisely – I’ll be content (if a little rueful that our performances couldn’t match Suarez’s). And it could be worse – he could be going to Chelsea or the Mancs.

Surely mate, that can be used by anyone sitting either side of the fence.

Maybe I can bring some context because I've lived abroad etc ... Maybe I can understand his reaction better than someone who hasn't.

I'd rather sit on the fence and hope for the best anyway, makes it all less depressing.

And we also can't discount the "fact" that a triple negative isn't not unnecessarily not lacking in clarity.

Nigey, do you think he should think about that before he does what he does? If the media had it in for me, and the footballing authorities did, I would try my hardest not to give them a reason to come down on me. Isn't the issue that he needs to sort himself out?

Controversy is following him around. If he wants to create a better life for his family, by all means move. But to me, he shows very little remorse and blames everyone else for his problems.

How can people state for sure that it's a lie is beyond me.

Sitting on the fence is one thing but it seems to me you are the most committed on here to hoping Suárez doesn't mean what he is supposed to have said.

I almost accused you of projecting earlier, when you opined that maybe he feels freer to talk about all "the **** he gets" when he's back home. So when you go home to Mali or Madagascar or Margate or wherever it is you tell all your family about how you're hounded in England, yeah?

I know what you mean about it fending off the depression of it. But I don't really see any point in considering what might happen, except as an academic exercise. If he goes it will be a blow. If he doesn't then good. I'm waiting to see what happens.

Yes but I think that you'll be losing what makes him a formidable competitor. He is what he is. Remove this and you don't have the same player.

Why would people want him to be so conformist now? **** that.

You know full well how these things work. Being taken out of context for something you say in a foreign language happens all the time.
