Although Liverpool are still determined to resist his sale and will do everything to try to get him to have one a final year to assist in their top-four efforts, when the dust settled most supporters can sympathise with his wish for Champions League football if he moves to the Bernabéu.

A move to another English club would be unpalatable, however, and contradict every statement the player has made to justify a possible departure.

It should be stated that Liverpool have been given no indication by Suárez or his representatives that he is interested in joining Arsenal or any other English club.
At least Bascombe has said there what few other journos have, just how unlikely and frankly ridiculous all this talk of Suarez to Arsenal/Chelsea/City is. I just can't see it at all.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
    Mine angry and defrauded young?

The confirmed £30m bid by Arsenal for him is laughable. If they made it to spur Madrid into selling Higuain to them, I can't see how it would work. Bidding well below value for another striker just makes you look like idiots

If I were there fans, I'd be seriously concerned that they're being taken for mugs. All this talk of breaking their transfer record 3 times in one week......still hasn't been done. Starting to think whether they're just saying the right things

Yeah it doesn't make sense. It'd basically prove to Madrid they have the £30m that they want to sell Higuain. It would surely backfire in terms of getting a cheap deal for Higuain agreed, they'll just up the asking price to £30m now.

They've lowballed us before several times with Reina too don't forget.

I find Arsenal quite an annoying club to be honest. When they want to sell a player they demand top dollar and will not sell unless it's stupid money. Yet they go round putting in ridiculous bids for other players.

You're spot on about how the £30m will look to Madrid. Probably dig their heels in even more.

I'm still hoping that we can get him as part of any Suarez deal. Higuain is utter class

Arsenal's offer is not serious, not in the slightest. It is purely to placate the fans and sell more season tickets. They will be linked with some big names and put these stories out, then eventually sign someone like Mario Gomez or another player on the fringes of the elite. Its the way they do their business - deceitful to their fans and I just hope all the Mikhi talk was not us doing something similar.

All said and done even if they genuinely wanted Luis, would he really want to go there? Not a cat in hells chance IMO.

I think we were used in the Mkhitarayan deal to hawk out the interest from Dortmund.

Read the Goal.com article by Wayne Veysey on the Suarez bid. It's embarasing

The Gunners were knocked back after approaching Liverpool regarding the availability of their Uruguayan striker while Manchester City's pre-season preparations could be disrupted

                ARSENAL MADE SUAREZ ENQUIRY

Mystery surrounded a flurry of bets in midweek on Luis Suarez heading to Arsenal, with bookmakers hurriedly slashing their odds and one even closing their market.

The Sweeper understands that the run of bets came after the Gunners made a speculative enquiry to Liverpool about the availability of the Uruguayan.

With the biggest transfer kitty in Arsenal’s history available to him this summer, manager Arsene Wenger sanctioned the shock move for Suarez.

But the north London club were knocked back by Liverpool, who issued a ‘hands-off’ warning as they fight to hold on to a player who has spoken frequently this summer of his interest in a move to Real Madrid.

Wenger plans to use a warchest of up to £100 million to make at least two marquee signings this summer, most likely in the striker and midfield positions.

The Suarez enquiry is believed to have come before Arsenal made an improved bid of £23.1m for Gonzalo Higuain, who is closing in on a switch from Real Madrid to Emirates Stadium.

As revealed by Goal earlier this week, Wenger was considering an alternative to prime targets Higuain and Wayne Rooney as he pushed for a proven, A-list striker who could be available at a good price and targeted the Liverpool hitman.

The Suarez move is now on the backburner, but the Arsenal boss is pressing ahead with pursuing his interest in top-level targets, with the likes of Marouane Fellaini and Cesc Fabregas understood to still be on his hit-list, as well as Ashley Williams and Julio Cesar.

                    £30m to arsenal bizarre.

only reason i can see is it's a bit of an unsettling tactic played by arsenal - surely they don't believe they'd get him but maybe see us a bit of threat if we keep suarez and continue adding to the squad, so put in a bid, keeps him in the papers, may generate other bids, mess with suarez head

This is also the Everton model. The have to sell 10's of season tickets to break even and this is a sure way of achieving that.

By putting in a concrete bid and having it rejected it shows to Real Madrid; a) that they've got the money, so any negotiation between the clubs is because Arsenal will not pay over their valuation of the player, not because they're skint and can't afford to go higher; and b) that if they can't get Higuain at a fair price they are willing and able to go elsewhere.

They wouldn't dare bid any higher than £30m though just in case it was accepted!

It could also show to Madrid that Arsenal only value a player like Suarez at 30mill, so they wont be going much; if any higher than what they already offered for Higuain ?

Maybe. I think we can all agree it's pretty much nonsensical from every angle from Arsenal. Making fools of themselves.

I'm expecting a monster £5m bid for Reina from them any day now!

True, but we do know they have a billionaire desperate to spend like a drunken sailor, it's just the club wont let him, hopefully, that's still the case.
