This is quite contradictory. As you are judging him as a footballer and his previous antics on the pitch

So difficult to not like him really. .

It has taken a mighty effort from the club, and players, to get him to stay. I hope he can hit the ground running and help us to the CL spot we crave but if it does not go too well I would not be surprised to see another **** storm in January.

          I think that's a fair summary.

All I expect from him now is to come in if selected and do his job. Could do without hearing anything from him (as impossible as it sounds), and to just pick up where he left off without any attitude.
Come January, we`ll see how the situation sits, but I'd rather wait until next summer all things considered.

            Why is it contradictory?

Of course I'm judging him as a footballer for what he does on the pitch

After the racism row, a lot of us in real life ended up having pretty heated debates with friends, aquintances, loved ones, randoms defending the guy in the face of spurious allegations and resulting conviction. Those were hard times. Remember the squabling on here, just within our own community?

Even with the bite, which was indefensible, we stuck by him, because he was one of us.

So for the club and the fans to have stuck by him and defended him to the hilt, for him to basically throw all that back in our collective faces all the way through the summer (until it became evident he wasn't gonna get his way) is not something I'm particularly grateful for. **** him, in that sense.
Hang on, if anyone defended him surely it was because we felt he deserved it, and believed his side of the story ?

It wasn't done as a favour to be called in was it ?

He 's perfectly entitled to want to better himself regardless of anything that happend at lfc. I can't judge him any the worse for that after defending him for all the other stuff, how can anyone, just seems skewed somehow.

Did he ever sign a new contract this summer, as was that more twit****?
                Oh I don't know.

But you say you dislike him as a person and you don't know him as a person. You are judging him "as a person" based on what he has done on a football pitch.

I know if people judged me as a person by how I acted on a football pitch, their judgement would be wildly different to what I'm really like as a person.

You said you disliked him as a person and you do not even know him in person to my knowledge

                      This is so so true.

It is. I've met Shaggy, he's a lovely guy when he plays football, but he's a bit of a nob the rest of the time

Yes, so for him to act like a petulant child all summer is not something that has endeared him to me any more. It's pretty bad form, all things considered.
                          Oh I don't know.

Fair enough. It's who he is though Dom, surely after all you'd seen you knew that before this summers window.

Can he change with age? Who knows.

edit: Also, there is actually a funny side to his spoilt childish persona too.

This. The will to win and the need to win. Being a bad loser, when I used to play football. I would do whatever I could to win the game

Same. I'm snarly, aggressive, get intensely annoyed with myself on those rare occasions I give the ball away or something......I even started diving in my late teens. My Mum last watched me when I was about 17 and she never wanted to come again because I was so aggressive ...the polar opposite of what I'm really like. White line fever innit.
