Based on what? There's no previous example that we can refer to. 2 year ban is the maximum listed in the FIFA regs, but they're very vague (deliberately so).Originally posted by ChrisDR1968 View PostOn a more serious note I can see a 2 year international FIFA ban, a season's ban in European club competitions and something like a domestic league 20 match ban.
Any club football ban would be very tricky for FIFA as its not strictly speaking their remit.

Unless its drug abuse I'm sure we would have legal grounds to sue if a ban was imposed at club level.
Generally all punishments for on field matters can only apply for that level.
He faces a very long ban from International football but even then it might only apply to World Cup games and not the South American tournament.

Louis is a PR nightmare for LFC, but he is Box Office for the press.
The biggest losers here are LFC, and us as supporters. We are the ones who try to stick up for him. These actions are indefensible and he surely truly does need some help.

Agreed. This has happened too many times now. And of course the staff including Rodgers feel let down because they've worked so hard with Suarez and before yesterdays game it seemed like he literally had changed his behaviour but obviously not. He needs help. I hope FIFA don't set an example of him and ban him for domestic games as well. Kick him out of the tournament and let him know that this is absolutely frowned upon - and not only in Europe but all over the world.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostGreat post mate.
We won't fire him, but guaranteed FSG will be absolutely fuming. They - along with Rodgers - probably feel let down. Betrayed even. But it is clearly something that is out of Suarez's control and he needs help.
JUSTICE FOR THE 96!

Pretty much, yeah. Wasn't wearing a Liverpool shirt didn't even happen in this country.Originally posted by fah-q View PostSorry, I don't follow you.
Are you saying I shouldn't care that it happened?

Thats silly. I couldn't give a **** either, but that's because I don't really care about football in general. It's not on the list of things that matter to meOriginally posted by captainfog View PostI couldn't give a **** if he bit him. And I'm struggling to understand why anyone in the UK cares either. Liverpool fan or not. There are many worse things that happen in football matches.
But plenty of people do, and to those people, having your best player BITE (
) another player is obviously quite a major incident
I'm struggling to think of many worse things that happen in football matches too. Least not regularly
A 20 game international suspension, purely owing to his availability for the clib he plays for makes him attractive to other teamsOriginally posted by janpelt View PostYou think that he's have a lot of takers if he has a 20 game suspension?
Still love him and hope the suspension will only be for internationals...
The fact that he bites other players doesn't
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

So I presume you think that if you, for example, got in a fight while on holiday and received a criminal record as a result, your employer has no business in knowing that and no right to react to it?Originally posted by captainfog View PostPretty much, yeah. Lad on the radio earlier, didn't catch the name, but he wrote a book on Bob Paisley before, says that rest assured, FIFA have the power to ban him from all football competition, not just international level. They could ask the FA to institute a domestic ban, or ultimately, do it themselves.Originally posted by G View PostIn Fifas statutes assault is 2 games, spitting is 6. He'll get about 8 I reckon. International only. I do wish FIFA would clarify this as it seem pretty clear they can only ban him from their own competitions.
Which kind of makes sense if you think about it, considering the agreement all governing bodies in football have with FIFA, agreements to which every player signs up for."I will make the boys feel your support"
