in the early part of last year we did quite well without suarez but i doubt we could have sustained that through the year. once he came back he gave us a massive boost and our attacking play was on fire.
we will miss him again, but his return, if there is a return, will be like the late arrival of the signing of the season.
but the reality is that if suarez wants out we can just try and make the best of it, get what we can, and rebuild.
all this has come as no surprise really. its a shame, but we knew he would be off one day. barca having a bit of a wobble made me think this would make them try a lure him. i mentioned this a while ago [once the season finished] and tried to search but couldnt find it. sanchez might lessen the blow but i doubt we will get him.
we will have sturridge and lambert. we need another decent, ready to go striker.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

A club not in the world's top 25?Originally posted by Norbs View PostThe indulgence is understandable. World's 3rd most prized asset playing for a club not in the world's top 25. I thought the club did extremely well getting him in line last season and it looks like he missed having his club mentors nearby and regressed. He's behaved a bit like a kid going on year 6 PGL
I consider Liverpool to be a club that has been one of the top 10 football clubs in the world ever since Bob Paisley won 3 straight European trophies in the late 1970's.
It has nothing to do with monetary worth and everything to do with status, fame, fan base and accumulated success
Monetary worth goes up and down with every season but status, fame, fan base and success is a much more long term deal.

You may, and fwiw I do too, but we're somewhat biased in where we see ourselves on the world stage. Perhaps top 15 would be more realistic and all the teams ranked above us would want him which makes our efforts to keep him all the more difficultLast edited by Norbs; 29-06-14, 05:12 PM.

Indeed. It's been clear for years that top players don't see us as attractive very often, except Suarez but he's mental
This summer will be interesting to see if a return to the CL changes our attractiveness. If Sanchez chooses Arsenal ahead of us I'd be worried. Still a big club in terms of history and fan base though.

2. Barcelona
3. Manchester United
4. Liverpool
5. Juventus
6. Bayern Munich
7. AC Milan
8. Arsenal
9. Atletico Madrid

So if Suarez goes to Barcelona he's be moving from the 4th biggest club in the world the the second.

Chelsea, City, Munich and PSG currently pose a more attractive option than us, easily. Add to that Athletico as Spanish champions and Juve as Italian champions and that makes us 10th. Arsenal have huge appeal as a London based club, the Milan clubs hold similar sway. Puts us 13th most attractive option in Europe

Liverpool's are fit as **** these days. We're one sexy mother****er. We're a bit like Brendan Rodgers really. We've sorted the scary yellow fangs out and got ourselves some pearly whites, we've slimmed down and picked up a sick base tan. We've got our confidence and swagger back. The guys want to be us, the chicks want to be with us. Now form and orderly queue ladiesOriginally posted by G View Post

All-time fame and status plus the size of fan base.Originally posted by dom9 View PostWhich criteria are you using to rank these?

The clubs currently owned by oil rich billionaires do not figure in my top ten because they are weak on the above criteria.
Take those owners away and they become top 20 or 30 clubs at best.
