You need to have a word with your jury
What have Henry and Co done so far?

In fairness they came in and bought Liverpool on the cheap. They'll make money from LFC somewhere down the line, I have no doubt about that. I'm delighted G+H are gone, but we still have to wait and see how these owners pan out.

In January the club spent a lot of money, but virtually all that came from player sales. There were rumours we were also in for Young and Adam, as such we could have ended up spending more. But we didn't. So not much money spent there, which was the last transfer window where a club could really heavily invest without it effecting the FFP rules.

We've also seen an increase in sponsorship revenue, but much of that can be attributed back to G+H, who in fairness made a great appointment in Ian Ayre. I think the upward trajectory has just continued.

They've also sat down with fan groups and made great efforts to see what makes the fans tick. They didn't claim to know everything, in fact they claimed the opposite. But they've been willing to learn. Not a bad word said about them from all the meetings they attended.

Finally, and this is the most important, they brought back King Kenny. However. They, for me at least, waited too long to do this. Make no bones about it, the delay has cost us Champions League football next season. An earlier appointment could have seen us get the extra six points or so we needed. But better late than never I guess. And let's not forget, he hasn't got the full time job yet.

Not much talk on the stadium yet either, though I guess they need time to think on that one. We need a successfull team to fill a big stadium, at present we have neither. I know which one I'd rather we got first

    ----------

Anyhow, I always said my initial judgement would come on September 1st. By then I'll know who the manager is and how much FSG have actually spent in the transfer market. Could also have some stadium news by then.

I hope it will all be positive. But for now, as Kev has said, they haven't really done much that would make me relax and bet my savings that they'll make great owners. But they're off to a steady start.
    Forwards.......

This sort of quote always makes me laugh - as though rescuing the club from two owners intent on bankrupting it and taking on the legal challenge that would inevitably ensue and paying out £200m to the bank is the easiest thing in the world to do - it makes me wonder why I didn't do it...
      Really?

Mate they didn't do it for our benefit, they did it for theirs. They're not fans riding in donning shiny armour sitting a top a huge black horse. They saw an opportunity and they saw a massive global brand on it's knees and ripe for the taking.

I'm glad that someone bough LFC but someone was always going too. They weren't the only ones at the table. In the minds of Purslow, Ayre and Broughton they were the best of the bunch. How right they were may never be known as we'll never know how other prospective bidders may have done.

The time to be thankfull to FSG is when they start to turn LFC into a top team. That means getting the right manager in (almost check) and then backing him in the transfer market, in the same way LFC managers in the past have almost always been backed.

I am realy glad they came in, honestly and I hope all goes well with what they do. I remember the fanfare and warm feeling we all had when H&G arrived etc.

Our new Lords and Masters spent nothing in Jan, have said all the right things about the future and promised to sort out the stadium issue. (All sound familiar?)

I really do hope they deliver, I dont expect City type of spending, just allow us to spend what we earn, not cream off the profits like a certain other group did.

I am not against them, not at all, but once bitten, twice shy untill proved otherwise.

you either ignore or dismiss the spending of many millions on buying us/ wiping out or debt.

also we wanted the squad improved and it was? fans will always want more money spent i think the model they will follow in the long term is more self sustaining than many would like.

also remember they have only been here a short time. Look at the record with boston and compare and contrast to what everyone found so easily on google about our previous owners

A little harsh perhaps? I got the impression that we originally intended to buy Suarez to play WITH Torres. It was only due to his late transfer request that we had to get Carroll in as a replacement for Torres. If you take out the unplanned Torres / Carroll dealings, we had planned to be spending the £20m or so on Suarez anyway.

I take your point though. They've only had one transfer window so far, and to cast judgement based on that would be premature. Remember G+H did quite well for the first transfer window as well.....

re the stadium, the sending out of letters asking if people wanted to stay on the waiting scheme for season tickets was clearly an options appraisal, if, out of the first 25000, 10000 (conservative estimate) said that wanted to stay on the scheme then that puts us at near a 60000 regular fanbase which would justify the decision to build a new stadium, however, if only 4000 stayed on then there would be no point, upgrade parts of Anfield and stay where we are

They spent the difference in the sale of Babbel and what it cost for Suarez, I suspect about 15m if we actually paid cash. Yes they cleared the debt, but that is business, H&G did the same, tho the debt from Moores was smaller.

The delivery of the stadium and a decent investment over a period of time will convince me. I had reservations about Kenny coming back and he blew those of of the water, hopefully Fenway and group will do the same.

We must never forget, we are fans, they want money, nothing wrong with that but we look at the situation differently so we shouldn't look at them with rose tinted glasses on.

                          Yup, good points.

We could quite easily have had a net spend of £30-40m in January if Torres stayed and we signed Suarez, Young and/or Adam.

Also how many owners right now would receive £50m and then invest the entire amount back into the playing staff? Not many, that's for sure.

                            That's pretty ****ing massive.

Personally, I think they've done a terrific job so far - bearing in mind that all this is new to them. As far as owners go, we could do a lot, LOT worse. And we should know!

I can understand why some people are still skeptical. This Summer's transfer window, and the stadium will tell us everything we need to know about them. But I have confidence that they'll be as good as their word.

I only said that we have probably scouted him at least a couple of years so he was one of the players we looked at. You don't sign a player for £22m if you haven't scouted him at least a couple of years. That would be madness if you don't have billions to spend like City.

Then it is up to the manager if he want him signed or not.

Almost every player we are now interested in have probably been scouted when Rafa was our manager. It takes time to create a new list of players.

Suarez was most probably one of our targets together with a lot of others a couple of years ago. We scout a lot of players.
