    Friendlies

With no European football this season then we should play a few friendlies instead against teams from the middle east and earn a few extra millions that way.

Wouldn't be a problem doing that in the middle of the season. Say four or five friendlies instead of the European games. We could probably earn at least £10m+. Money that later would be used to strengthen the team.

Clubs like Milan, Inter, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man U for example do that when they get the time to do it.

It is a great way to earn some extra big money.

    Blimey Arn

Which club does this during the proper season?

Barcelona, Milan, Inter and Real Madrid do it every season. Man U have done it a few times.

Clubs from the middle east pay big money to play against the top clubs. Not exactly a secret.

We should cash in now when we have a chance to do it without it affecting our chances in the PL.

Would only be good for the players to get away from English football a few days four five times this season.

When did Man Utd do it mid-season?

And you're suggesting doing it four or five times during the season?

We usually play 10+ games in Europe during the season. I don't see any problem replacing 10+ games with four or five friendlies.

This summer, yeah. Arn's suggesting doing it halfway through the actual PL season, and reckons United have done this before. I'd like to know when this was.

They did it 2008 before the fourth round in the FA Cup and in 2009 IIRC.

No mention of that here, for the 2008-09 season:

They played Al-Hilal in January 2008, which was mid-season. But that was ONE game, not four or five. And it was the only occasion they've done it, so clearly, there must have been some valid reason why they havent been doing it since.

Playing in Europe could be the reason but what do I know

We won't play European football this season so we don't have that problem. Playing four or five friendlies instead of 10+ CL/EL games wouldn't be a problem at all. Instead it could be good to do it because the players would get away from the cold English weather a few days every time.

And add extra travel impact, risk of injury, fatigue and everything else which comes with pointless long journeys.

                          No thanks.

So you would say no to say £2m-£3m a game? Money that then would be spent to strengthen the team even more. We need to get the revenue up in some way to replace the money we miss out on because of the no European football thing.

if we can play the ressies and young players, then great.
