A simple mistake...
I made the lineup with Maxi in ahead of Downing.
Then I thought that I would give Carroll and Downing a chance to build a partnership and left out Maxi for Downing.
But I forgot to change Cole for Maxi.

So of course I can't expect you to work out why, when I can't either!

Good game for us this....early on, it gives us a chance to field some of the players to have not started yet and see what they have to offer.

People are mentioning the situation with Northampton as a reason not to play alot of kids (and fringe players) I think that alot has changed since then, we now have a much stronger squad, our second team at present would likely include Skrtel, Kyriakos, Meireles and Maxi, all of whom have alot of experience, add to that the likes of Ngog Shelvey and Spearing who have a decent amount of experience and Flanagan and Robinson who have both played a few Premiership games now. Although that's a second team there is still a decent amount of quality in there. Towards the end of last season 6 of those players were playing together in the Premiership.

I think there is a lot in that sentiment but at the same time I do think we need to be using these games to develop some of our young players. Perhaps the bench is the best place for the likes of Sterling but I do think we have to be looking to give Robinson, Flanagan, etc. proper competitive games when we can.

This is the type of game youngsters should be heavily involved.

I would feature them all Robinson, Flanagan, Wisdom, Coady, Sterling, Shelvey, Wilson, Spearing etc.

I would also play Henderson and Carroll cause both need to improve match fitnessbut in limited minutes.

The rest of it, I would involve Doni, Soto and Maxi as well in some capacity.

I think we need a strong team. Lets face it we have no Europe this season and a trophy of any kind could well jump start this team. Putting a load of reserves out who dont play together will see us out once more at an early stage.

Early in the Curling Cup, when we are still facing weak opposition, we should be playing our young and upcoming talent.

What message we will be sending to our academy if we constantly keep playing our best players without giving chances youngsters to grow and develop.

I am not saying that we should be playing our entire team with U20 players but some for sure.

I dont think Kenny can ever be accused of ignoring youngsters, whatever team we field in this.

Never said it was.

The players I mentioned are all part of the first team squad and I don't see a problem with them being featured in this game.

There is enough to quality there (obviously mixed with our experienced players) to win this game with ease.

All of them are involved into week-to-week first 11 selection and this shouldn't be any different.

We shouldn't have any issues winning if Jonjo, Spearing, Robinson, Flanagan or Wilson would start.

I'd love to see Shelvey playing. Some of his passing i've been really impressed by and if the reports are true and Aqua is on his way out then it'd be nice to see Jonjo get more first team starts.
