Thought the ref got the handball right, Suarez should have had one penalty (Knight grabbing his foot) and possibly a 2nd. The backpass was obviously a complete farce, how the **** can he justify not giving that? Can only imagine he must've thought Suarez prodded it into the keeper's arms.

A central defender must be able to be a part of the attacks now. You can't afford to have an out and out defensive central defender. He must be able to start quick counter attacks and be creative in tight defensive situations.Originally posted by saj View PostBold 1: Which game were you watching? Bold 2: Carragher offers nothing going forward? What planet are you on: he's a centre back
what do you expect him to do, play box to box
He cocked up with the goal but I'm sure it he was he who blocked what looked a certain goal in the second half.Stop the cyberhate

You must not have seen the likes of Graham Poll, Mike Reilly and Howard Webb. I'm not disputing the backpass incident, as I already mentioned. The Zat-Knight-on-Suarez-penalty-claim hard for the official to see Knight's hand clip Suarez, and the Agger-handball was a totally accidental ricochet off his knee.Originally posted by saj View PostBold 1: Which game were you watching? When I say going forward, I mean when he's in possession; he too destructive to our play and can only roll the ball sideways 10 yards or hoof it long. His weaknesses far outweigh his strengths, and we need to improve. If he was great going forward but poor defensively we'd have some compensation, but as it is now, he doesn't really offer a great deal except scooping it away in our own box.Originally posted by saj View Post

Carra played the full 90 minutes and barring that **** up at the end he did nothing wrong. in fact I thought he was pretty immense throughout and kept his passing along the floor for the most part. his participation in the match didn't seem to hamper our attacking style in the least, so sorry Arn but you are talking through your swedish bollocks.Originally posted by Arn View PostA central defender must be able to be a part of the attacks now. AVB have a similar problem at Chelsea. He must find a way to replace Terry who also is an accident waiting to happen and isn't creative enough.
How do you replace Terry without losing the dressing room? He got the players to replace him but is he strong enough to be able to do it?Stop the cyberhate

It depends. If he was good defender, good in the air, and (reasonably) fast then he'd be an asset. Vidic isn't Beckanbaur but what he gives to the team compensates for his weaknesses. Same with the likes of Terry. Conversely, the likes of Luiz look pretty good in an attacking sense, but maybe a bit suspect defensively. It's all about balancing out the pros and cons to hopefully achieve a net gain for the team.Originally posted by Arn View PostA central defender must be able to be a part of the attacks now. How many of the the scums central defenders are creative? None - and they won the league last year. In fact, when have they ever had a creative centre half? Stop talking nonsense.Originally posted by Arn View PostAVB have a similar problem at Chelsea. He must find a way to replace Terry who also is an accident waiting to happen and isn't creative enough.

Look at Barca - Pique gets forward a fair bit. But does Puyol? We have Agger who offers a bit going forwards (like Pique) so it makes sense to have one centre back who stays back (i.e. Carra). Do you expect our centre backs to do 1-2's with each other and bring the ball out of defense all the way into the oppostion penalty area
