Poor, but its not the end of the world. We really do need to buck our ideas up soon this season though.

Downing on the right is madness. I'm not convinced about him (or at least, about his fee), but he's half the player when he's stuck on the wrong side.

Adam, I'm just not convinced about full stop, especially in a 2 man midfield with no holding player. Decent on the ball but without it...

Bellamy had a good first half, though I'd much rather see him upfront than on the left.

Very suprised Carroll didn't start. £35m does look utterly insane at the moment.

Sounds familiar. We said more or less the same thing after many games the 2009-10 season when we finished seventh.

Many players playing out of position and that simply won't work.

I'm far from convinced yet that Kenny is the right man for us. We already got proof that we can't dominate the midfield playing 4-4-2 and still Kenny is doing it. Why? It happened in game after game.

We dominated against Man U but then we played three in the middle.

The squad isn't built to play 4-4-2. Fine play it when we have the players to do it but not when we don't.

Why all the crosses with no Carroll on the pitch? We played like Carroll was on the pitch when he wasn't. Very strange.

I want Kenny to stay a long time make no mistake about that but he must play a system that suits the players and not a system that suits him.

I hope that Kenny can admit that he make mistakes in the transfer market when a player isn't good enough, like Downing, and sell him. Carroll is beginning to look like another big transfer mistake but that isn't his fault because he isn't given a fair chance. A player like Downing is given chance after chance even if he hasn't delivered a single goal or assist.

Nearly every one of us on here agreed before the match that Adam and Gerrard would not work. Some suggested Spearing and some Henderson (me the latter). I have a feeling Steve Clarke knew this wouldn't work too. I worry if he is unable to convince Kenny and is just becoming a yes man.

whenever you see clarke on the bench his face always seems to look confused as if he;s out of ideas on whats happening. maybe he's at odds with kenny over the tactics or whatever but he doesnt look like he has a lot of input on match days which would be wierd.

well Kenny may have got some things wrong today, but did we not just miss about 10 good chances? at least we're creating chances. there were times under Rafa we were ****ing dire. fulham at home springs to mind instantly.

From an attacking point of view we weren't horrendous, but we really had to score 2 goals, our defence isn't what it used to be and we miss having a serious ball winner in the middle and without Lucas we really lack a player that can purely just maintain shape. I was really concerned about it when I saw Gerrard and Adam playing together and as feared we had no midfield at times and the gap between our defence and midfield was gigantic. The more I see Adam the more I realise that there's no ****ing way he can be a starter for us. He's fat, has no defensive ability, loses the ball after making a run and flings himself to the floor to try to get a free kick probably because he's too unfit to get up and track back. He lost the ball in this fashion when they scored.

I hate to single out a player each week and pick on him, but there's no way I can stop doing it. Downing is ****. I've said it when he played for Middlesbrough, I said it when he played for Villa and I said it again when we signed him. He's ****ing horrible. The best that Downing has shown is equivalent of Riera when he didn't give a ****. I really don't see what he brings to the table, and even when he is playing well i don't see him as a good enough player to help us out. I'd love to have seen Maxi's contribution if he'd have been given half of the opportunities Downing has been.

Due to Suarez' erraticness we definitely do need a steady goalscorer. The thing is that the chances he fashions he does it for himself and he doesn't really look for the pass when he's close to goal he always goes himself. Adding a poacher won't change that, but it'll make sure we'll cash in on chances that our other attackers aren't putting away.

On the plus side I thought that Johnson was decent upon his return and the chances we created were very promising, just need to start sticking them away.

Totally agree. He found himself at least twice in situations where he should have passed(one in first half with Kuyt being completely open on the far post and one time with Gerrard also being completely free in the middle in the second half) and in both cases he looked to score first even though his teammates were very well positioned.

All that would be fine if he could convert but his finishing touch is just the sign that we cannot really on on him alone and we need someone else with more consistent finish.

Nissan's are reliable so is the Ford Focus to an extent we've bought an Alpha Romeo, looks good sometimes it works fantastically but overall unreliable.

if we look at the things rafa was lacking during his time here kenny has all those. He has a proper left back who could create goals for fun, he has a target man to play up top and he has a proper left winger who too could create havoc for the opposing team.

If we would have added enrique and downing to the team that finished second to utd we would have won that league easy and others after it too.
