He hadn't had the good game and in the first half his missed head clearance almost cost us a goal as well.

That said, Pepe was late for that cross too so he is definitely to be blamed for their equalizer.

Really need to tighten things up at the back as we cannot stop leaking goals.

The problem is that Carra and Skrtel isn't that great in the air so Reina can't trust them to win the header so he must clear the cross himself and try to punch it away.

If we had a central defender that is great in the air then I'm very sure that Reina would have stayed on the line.

      Kenny rues missed chances

Kenny Dalglish admitted his frustration after Liverpool failed to turn a succession of chances into goals and were held to a 1-1 draw by Norwich City on Saturday.

Craig Bellamy put the Reds into a deserved lead in first-half stoppage time, but substitute Grant Holt's towering header secured a point for the visitors at Anfield.

Liverpool could have clinched victory had it not been for a stunning save from Norwich 'keeper John Ruddy to thwart a Luis Suarez volley at the death while substitute Andy Carroll went close with a close-range header.

Dalglish told his post-match press conference: "I think on the balance of the game we deserved to take three points from it. We played really well up to a point, created an awful lot of chances and there was some great passing and moving.

"But when you are only one goal in front it gives them a bit of encouragement. They were hanging on in there.

"If we don't convert our chances we're always going to give the opposition a chance. They took it.

"Even then we came back and the goalkeeper has made a fantastic save from Luis late on and big Andy almost scored with a header as well.

"We're disappointed but I am sure we'll play a lot worse than that and win matches."

As well as being thwarted by Ruddy's late heroics for Norwich, Liverpool also struck the woodwork three times during the course of a contest they dominated for long periods.

However, Dalglish is confident the Reds will soon start to turn their opportunities into goals.

He said: "You work to get the chances on the day. It's difficult to assess how you're going to react when you get the chances, but hitting the post three or four times as well doesn't help.

"But if we keep creating the chances, we've got enough people there who can finish them."

Dalglish added: "There's a lot of disappointment because the boys have played really well. I don't think the point is a reflection on how well they've played. As I said, if they continue to play like that they'll win a lot more games than we lose."

Reporters quizzed Dalglish on whether he felt his side could have had a penalty following Norwich's equaliser when Charlie Adam collided with Leon Barnett inside the box while Luis Suarez went down under a challenge from Marc Tierney just outside the area as he looked set to go through on goal.

"It certainly wasn't a free-kick against Charlie, but I don't know if it was a penalty," reflected the boss.

"I honestly haven't seen it (Suarez incident). There are people questioning Luis Suarez's integrity, but it's their integrity that needs questioning - not his.

"On the football pitch he is exemplary, a fantastic footballer and we've got 100 per cent faith in Luis Suarez and the way he conducts himself."

Do you think Kelly could be a possibility at CB ? Agger and Kelly/Coates seems decent on paper.
Kelly would be a good option but I would play with Coates and Agger. They can't be any worse than Carra and Skrtel.

Skrtel was solid, Carragher was continually outmuscled, allowing the Norwich forward to flick the ball on or bring it down. He's got absolutely no aerial authority, and the defence is under constant pressure from long balls because he simply can't compete. Plus he allowed that free header at a first half corner that was a good chance for them. I just can't see how people fail to notice these things. Added to his other limitations I'm baffled why he keeps getting a game with absoulutely no sign from the management that a change is imminent. After 70 minutes he looked completely out on his feet.

Just watched the Bellamy goal again. Just emphasises how nice passing is futile if the finishing is weak. A massive hoof up field, a slip by the defender and the shot deflected off the keeper was our route to goal. Now we've spent obscene amounts of money on him, Play Carroll and get him on the end of well delivered corners. We'll get at least half a dozen extra points this season, even if he never scores a 'proper' goal.

                  Yes they would be.

Coates needs time to settle and learn to play in PL and throwing him in and expect to produce immediately is bit premature.

Carra (I'd still put him ahead of Skrtel) and Agger imo is the best partnership we presently have for better or worse and that will be what we'll need to base our season on at least this year subject that Agger can give us 18-22 games this year.

                    Can't agree with that

The ref allowed free hunting on him today. It was like he already had decided not to give any freekicks to Suarez.

It is a big joke that referees like him are allowed to ref in the PL. Referees that want to be seen and don't care if he make the right decision or not.

I like Carroll. He's getting more and more involved. And works hard as being a fifth in midfield. He's been unlucky at finishing that header this evening. BUT, we need to play to his strengths, AND he needs to play to the rest of the team's strengths, ie Suarez. That's a game time thing.

Bellamy seemed to be the only person on the pitch tonight who was looking to set others up. I'd have him as man of the match even if he didn't score his goal. He tried to play people in, and menaced anyone on the ball on his watch. More of that please LFC.

I agree that he was denied some genuine shouts, but the way he appeals for bull**** ones is not good. The one where he barged the defender then threw himself down was a good example. And shinning the ball into touch and claiming a corner with such gusto, it does him no favours at all.

I agree. It is bull**** which will get him arguing his way into an early shower.

Refs have got it in for him now.

I noticed that myself several weeks ago. At the tail end of last season we went through a patch when we were scoring for fun, now scoring a goal is a draining task. What is causing that ?

Is it the loss of Meireles and the sidelining of Maxi and Spearing ?

Is it the new players in particular Carroll, Adam, Henderson and Downing ?
