We really need to take a really long look at our squad and beginning in January start looking to bring a couple of very good players if anybody decent is available.

Missing out on CL this year would be a huge blow that could impact us in so many ways and imo we have to act quickly and try to save the season.
We need to pay whatever it takes for players of the ilk of Hazard. Players who have that little something to make a difference, when the standard conventional stuff isnt working. I think we've bleated on about players who make things happen (or game changers, as you'd call them) until we've turned blue in the face, as have others. It has to happen in January or our CL hopes will be long gone before March.

We've changed owners, we've changed mangers, we've changed players, we've changed sponsors, we've changed formations. Were still no better?

Seems the general opinion is pretty much the same as on here.

Add to that the 2 he put on a plate for Kuyt and Henderson against Man U, Downing isnt the problem, he is doing what he was bought to put the ball into the box early without beating his man.
His problem is Kenny continues to play a system where we have hardly anyone in the box so we are negating our wingers greatest strength.

Every other team seem to play with more desire and urgency than us, we appear to be clueless and insipid.
Maxi was our best player from about February last season now he cant get a kick.

Still a massive bonus is thats 2 clean sheets in a row with Carra out injured
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

I think that the problem finishing, we're created alot of chances in every game, but we aren't scoring goals. Swansea are the only team in the top half of the table to have scored less goals than us. 14 goals in 11 matches is poor, when you consider how many chances we're created 14 goals in 11 games is abysmal.

Downing in particular is getting alot of stick, but I though most of his balls in today were good, as you mentioned he's put at least 3 chances on a plate in recent games. If we'd taken the one today and one of the two you mentioned against Man Utd we'd be 4 points better off an sitting in 4th place, Downing would have a couple of assists and wouldn't be getting the stick he is.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

We need to keep Kenny away from the transfer dealings and have him manage the squad he's given, he seems to be a great man manager.

After what we've spent on complete and utter garbage I'd seriously look at Camolli's future at the club.

There is no way that Carroll, Henderson, Adam and Downing are suddenly going to hit some form and magically become the type of players to take us up a level, but what do you do? Do you transfer list at the end of the season and take a hit or do you clutch at straws and run their contracts down for a couple more years?

As has been mentioned, over the years we've not brought in world beaters and we've paid the price, the only difference now is where Rafa brought in 4 mediocre players for £30m, Kenny is bringing in 1 mediocre player for £30m.

Rafa would be doing a lot better with this financial backing, he wouldn't win the league but he'd have taken us to 3rd or 4th at a canter.

God that sentence is depressing. What a centre mid that was. In fact that first 11 we had when we came 2nd was pure quality.

It's not luck or coincidence that this happens. They play percentages far far far far more intelligently than we do. As a football team, we're absolute thickos.

We can keep playing the 'if' card but ultimately, if we keep doing that and failing to realise that we DIDNT score the early goal and it is our fault & something we're doing wrong for this to keep happening, we wont be playing CL football anytime soon.

Shipped out the old dross, brought in the new,far more expensive dross.
Well well well that's not a nice thing to say, maybe even on par with pussy

I don't get this new 'wave' of comolli bashing. He bought is Saurez, no way Kenny could have done the groundwork and preparation on that deal and he bought in Coates. He said it in so many words that his network has been watching him for 3 years. I'd arguably say he bought in Enrique too. He backed the manager to sign the players he wanted.

I don't think he's getting 'bashed' really. I don't think many people understand what he is for or how his relationship with Kenny works.

We have spent the last 20+ years buying dozens of average squad players instead of genuine quality http://www.transferleague.co.uk/prem...transfers.html. This is one of the reasons we have never won the PL.
When FSG took over John Henry said in an interview that he was amazed at how many players we had bought over the last two decades that weren't what he described as ''top 4 players''. When I saw this interview I was excited, I truly believed that from then on we would only buy either genuine, proven quality players or very young, promising starlets.
But the signings of Carroll, Adam, Downing and Henderson have cost us 78 million pounds and while we may have more ''depth'' the overall quality of the squad has actually DECREASED. Those 4 players have lowered the quality of the team, perhaps mediocrity is contaigous.
Dalglish needs to drop those players and fast, a big decison to be sure but if he persists with these players then 4th is beyond us.
                              OK, let's compare.

                              Carroll - Torres
                              Adam - Poulson
                              Downing - Cole
                              Henderson - Ngog

                              Also in, Enrique, Bellamy
                              Also out, Konchesky

                              Like for like, quality Decreased?
                              Oh I don't know.

It's about shape and keeping the ball to choose our attacks.

Lucas was dragged all over the park. I'd rather have a stable base to build on, and right now that means Spearing in for Adam.
