True there weren't many clear cut chances like that but you don't get many of those types of chances in a game, but we still had a number of good chances.

Perhaps, I thought the movement yesterday was poor. As I mentioned we need people to pick up on Carroll's knock downs, he's going to win alot of stuff in the air, so that represents an opportunity to create alot of chances. Swansea's best chance came from a similar type of situation.

It's early days still i suppose, but right now, an awful lot of the decisions made by Kenny look to be wrong ones.

This can change obviously, but for now...

Yes, but it is still more than a case of poor finishing (and the Kuyt chance against United being touted as such pisses me off as that was a stretch and a good save, it wasn't "on a plate" as some have claimed).

I'd rather we showed more imagination than that in our play to be honest, I don't think it is our best route to goal.

Perhaps poor finishing wasn't as much of a problem yesterday as it has been in previous games, given that we did create less chances yesterday than we have previously, but it certainly has been a problem in other games. That said the Carroll chance yesterday was as clear a chance as you are likely to get. The Kuyt one against Man Utd wasn't on a plate, but it was still a good chance, but you can't blame Kuyt for missing it.

It may not be our best route to goal but it is certainly an advantage we will likely have against alot of sides, so we must know how to use it and be prepared to do so when the situation arises.

I'm not having a go at you, Vermy, but giving Dalglish time means not making even qualified judgements like this, let alone all the insanity and inanity elsewhere in this thread and in the other one.

I decided to swallow my doubts about his appointment before he even got the job and I'm not going to start evaluating progress or lack of it at this point.

As for Arn's preposterous rubbish, I know he means well but it's an extremist viewpoint expressed in extremist terms. Frankly I think it's childish.

            You people.
            .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

At the match yesterday. Too depressed to post last night.

I'm normally pretty optimistic but im just baffled how we can go from playing exciting one touch attacking football at the back end of last season to a side that has only scored 14 goals in 11 games this season

Maxi and Spearing are probably wondering what they have to do to get a chance. Both were superb at the end of last season and have performed well when theyve been (rarely) called upon this season.

All of our new signings, bar Enrique and Suarez, have major question marks against them and rightly so given the cost.

Dalglish was tactically out thought yesterday by a rookie manager and Swansea finished the match with 55% possession. They could quite easily have scored 2 or 3 goals and IMO will be disappointed not to have taken all three points. They were much the better side in the second half.

Fair enough we had a couple of good chances in the first half and Carroll should have scored but again it's all ifs.

IMO we need to pay the opposition a little bit more respect and not just have the attitude of let them just worry about us. We were outnumbered in midfield yesterday and this was apparent very early, Adam just gets bypassed time and time again and just jogs back in time to receive the ball to try another Beckhamesque hollywood ball which rarely comes off....he's too ponderous too and always seems to want to play akiller ball. He's far from good enough in this system IMO but im not gonna start on individual players....i dont know when i'd be able to stop!

At the moment we're just bang average and am i optimistic things will improve? Well no, not really. Unless things do improve quickly we'll be lucky to get 6th

I agree with alot of that.

But I think you don't have to worry too much about the opposition if you have a style of play that works and is capable of dominating the game for the majority of the 90 mins. The problem for me is that we don't, and I think that alot of our problems come from not controlling the game in midfield, we had periods of the game that we dominated, in the middle of the first half we had Swansea pinned back in their own half for about 20mins or so and we really needed to score then, but didn't.

IMO Adam is the weak link, he is capable of some good moments but for me they are far to infrequent, and he tends to drift in and out of games, which of course means that he can't dominate the game for long periods of time. We need someone who can control the game and dictate play like Alonso did. If we had such a player in midfield I wouldn't be as worried about the other new signings we've made. Hopefully Gerrard will come into the side in place of Adam, Gerrard has the ability to dominate games from midfield the question for me is whether he has the discipline to play that role.

That's exactly what the problem is.

If you look at Kenny's signings he picked up, by design, in the last transfer window Hendo, Adam and Downing for the reason that they created the highest number of chances last year and from that stand point he got what he wanted.

We improved dramatically in that area but the fact that we don't have a clinical finisher is the reason why we are dropping points left and right.

We need a player type of Klose or Gomez that can convert those chances at much higher percentage than Luis and Carroll and I'm truly hoping that we will spend money soon to address that issue as it is killing us.

And Suarez has been the one creating most of those chances.

We created the greatest number of goal scoring chances, more than any other club in PL and we just don't convert those and that is the issue.
