Ha ha, well I openly apologise to everyone who has had to read this crap today.

    Sorry everybody (except Craig ).
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

"The NEXT match is the most important", and will always have to be won. This should be the basic saying among LFC players for the rest of the season - and I then hope for 2 cups and a top 4 ending.

Looked like I missed out on quite the debate!

I see where Dan & Craig are coming from with regards to preferring CL qualification over two cups, but personally I just look at Arsenal and wonder what good coming 4th has done them.

Yes, coming 4th means we MIGHT have a better chance of winning something next year. Or at the very least a better chance of coming top 4 again next year.

But personally I just want us to experience winning a major trophy again, 2006 is far too long in the memory.
              Forwards.......

The thing with Arsenal though Dan, is they refuse to spend the money that CL football has brought them. Judging by FSG's transfer policy so far (and that's without CL money) they wouldnt lock up the piggy bank, they'd spend.

Plus, with the Fair Play rules coming in, i'm afraid the CL money is far more critical than many people realise. Like it or not.

Ideally we'd do the Carling Cup, FA Cup and get fourth.

If I had to choose one then it's fourth every day of the week for me. Long term vision is worth so much more than a cup win. Sadly. That's the way it is now and that's how football has changed.

You get £30m for CL football, and what, maybe £3m for winning the CC?! Says it all.

Its obvious CL brings in more money but it does not guarantee the marquee signings, our best signings for the last god knows how many years have not been the marquee signing(although pretty pricey) infact when was the last player who chose us instead of Chelsea, Utd, Real or Barca, I feel we need to 'find' the players to suit us/them and it might take a few years and maybe winning the league cup will 'learn' us to win things again, this might not make sense to other people or be ture but its making sense to me at the moment(after a few), I hope our owners are in tune with KD and DC and know its not an easy task

Mate, if we as a club are forced to spend only what we earn, then the importance of the CL is a no-brainer.

I agree but its not the end of the world if we don't make it this year and if we don't make it then winning a cup or two will soften the blow a bit and maybe show the players we need they can still win things here
