We have 6 very much winnable games in December ( Fulham, QPR, Villa, Wigan, Blackburn and Newcastle) and we should be able to finish the first half of the season on the high.
sorry mate don't agree ....... we had winnable games against sunderland,norwich,swansea........... until we get a striker like we had in Torres we will drop more points

Or maybe get more out of midfield too. I think the idea that we just need a finisher is over simplifying it.

This is also why Maxi should play over Downing imo, he actually is a goal threat, Downing lacks control and panics too much.

true we need more from midfield but we also need an out and out finisher currently we don't have one of those.

Ah you edited your original post - I agree Maxi should have started he's certainly got an eye for a goal and is a very intelligent footballer, I wonder though with Bellamy being left out of the match squad we also looked at having a bit of extra pace from Downing helped and why we started with Henderson and Downing.

stats there from Agger are superb!

How many games has he played in a row now? Must be close to his next enforced break

I think perhaps you are right, in the sense that I don't think it has to be a striker. If Downing or Henderson had Maxis composure in front of goal we would be in an excellent position. I beginning to be reminded of the way Rafa built the team that finished second place though - we are doing more and more right and looking increasingly like we have a plan even when it doesn't quite come off.

I guess the other thing is that Kuyt is often too far away from Suarez for his predatory instincts to be made much use of, which is a shame.

I hope not. The back 4 (or 6 if you include Lucas and Reina) have been looking like an excellent unit of late. Really hope they stay together for a lot of the rest of the season.

That is my biggest concern with Downing and Henderson is in the final third, neither look comfortable in the penalty area and they too often seem afraid to take risks.

Which is why I said in previous posts we need to go out and buy a striker hopefully as early as in January.

I made the same point earlier but I can see tons of positives that I haven't really seen before.

Don't you yearn for the 'organisation skills' though?

We played pretty darn good for the majority of the game, although in the first half we stood off them for a spell of about 25-30 mins and gave them way to much space. Average players of the like Norwich and Swansea have got can look better than they really are when they're given time on the ball, and to give that time to genuine quality players is asking for trouble. Was much better in the second half when we put them under pressure and forced them into mistakes.

just can't see us having a chance of getting him. surely he's the most sought after forward in the game right now. suarez obviously would be a factor, I just think we'd be priced out by a whole host of clubs. then carroll would get even less time on the pitch. right, its not happening. mast nailed.

Cavani is about to get into the CL group stages with Napoli. Why would he transfer to LFC now? If we are not in the CL next year he would not come in summer.
