For me watching him when he has chances he lacks composure - top quality forwards will often pass the ball into the net. Suarez nearly goals for full on lashing it as hard as he can and when you do that you tend to lose control of the ball
I guess it could allow him more space if he's playing off the front between the lines, as teams have to decide whether to bring a defender out to mark him or sacrifice a midfielder. Or if we were playing him as a wide player in a 4-2-3-1 he'd more likely be picked up by a fullback than a centre back, one of these could help.

Also I guess psychologically there wouldn't the the same pressure on him to be the one getting the goals that would fall to the main striker.

      would be quite good IMO.

As I've said before I think Carroll could do well given a run of games, and the 3 behind him would have alot of movement cause defenders alot of problems and create some chances, as well as being able to chip in with alot of goals themselves.
I wonder if Suarez could be disciplined enough in that position

Yes hes done it for Uruguay & Ajax but the Premier League is very different and he'd definitely need to put in a shift defensively particularly if you are playing Johnson behind him

He bangs them in for Uruguay and was also very prolific for Ajax so I don't really buy this lack of composure. Suarez is better when he roams, so it's better if he starts wide leaving with somebody central instead of having no one up front when he goes looking for the ball and he is the centre forward.

I think all that movement will confuse Carroll and send him dizzy.

You'd definately need a defensive midfielder to cover. So it could probably work with Lucas in there, but may be a problem if your two centre mids were Adam and Henderson.

It would have been immense if we had Xabi and Mascherano for those roles with that attacking line up ahead of them

He does this anyway with his own natural movement

Playing as an out and out striker often means players facing the play and playing with their back to goal - so moving them out means that they will face the play without them having their back to goal this can make players more effective (Like Sturridge has been when moved out)

But Suarez doesnt play as a fixed striker, he pulls out and drops into the channels and wide areas - thats his speciality

Hes roaming now pulling out wide and leaving gaps in the middle for players to come into

As for Uruguay & Ajax well Kezman scored goals in the Dutch league also and at International level but couldnt do it in the Premier League. Hell you could even use Kuyt as an example of someone with a decent record in Holland and at International level but cant bang the goals in here

Playing good football. Not putting away chances. That's it. Simple as. Can't blame anyone but the strikers for that.

                    I agreed, until today.

But at what point do you/I have to start thinking...oooh, maybe something else is wrong here? My point was today.

I doubt we will admit defeat on Carroll just yet
This lad Alan Kayll reckons we already have:

“@alantkayll: LFC willing to let Carroll go. No interest in Torres at all.”

What else do you think is wrong? We are creating plenty of chances, I'd be more worried if we weren't creating anything.

In a similar way I have gone past thinking that our poor finishing is down to bad luck, we either have players whose finishing ability needs to be improved, or we have psychological problems with it.

God I hope that's true about Carroll.

Flmao at people having a go at Suarez for poor finishing. The guy is our only potent threat upfront FFS. Carroll had three chances to score and he missed all of them.
                              Are we winning?

They are both as bad as each other for me

Suarez has had far more game time than Carroll and has only scored a handful more goals than him

For the record Suarez's conversion rate is below 10% (maybe even as low as 8%) now thats criminal for a player of his quality

As for Carroll missing chances yesterday

The one near the end was a decent save by the keeper

He should have done better with the header that went just wide of the post and the chance in the first half he should have taken 1st time

I have to say I'm more disappointed with Suarez's finishing than I am in Carrolls probably because I expected more from Suarez.

I thought he'd be one of the leagues top scorers this season, and hes miles off that
