Yes we could always use better players in midfield etc.. but we probably wouldnt even be discussing our current problems if we had someone who could score goals

The problem is barring BIG money moves for players that might not be available or willing to come I cant think of anyone who bangs the goals in who might be available/we could attract

think we might have to take a flier on a couple of prospects myself
Nicky Maynard has just become available

To be fair if we go and spend big big is that admitting defeat with Carroll?? not that I would have an issue with that!!

I agree with this in part. There's no denying our defensive record. It's fantastic and a great platform to build from. Rafa did similar. I really don't think we're good enough defensively in transition though. By that I mean how we're set up when we lose the ball in attack..we vacate the midfield for fun and attack in pairs down the wings. When we lose the ball we're hopelessly short in the middle at times and a lot of the time get nowhere near the second ball or near enough to stop a counter-attack. It's pretty worrying for me

I don't think so, we are short of strikers, we only have Suarez, Carroll, Bellamy and Kuyt. The latter two play most of their games in wide areas of midfield, leaving us with only two real strikers, and Carroll as the only real penalty box striker. If Kuyt leaves as has been suggested that would leave us incredibly short IMO, especially if Suarez ban is upheld. I definately think we need another striker.

That's what I thought as well. Does the same for Uruguay as far as I know.

              LOL @ Maynard

I doubt we will admit defeat on Carroll just yet

We need more goals from it though,

Enrique never scores, Skrtel and Agger very rarely score and Johnson has the ability and defo should score more.

                  I feel the same mate.

Think we're going to struggle to get someone one who wants to move to us in the first place, who can actually finish and who we can afford.

I'd like to see young Adam Morgan given a chance. He knows where the back of the net is and he can't do any worse than what the senior players are already doing.

Get him on as a sub a few times and see how he does, he might surprise us you never know.

                    I'd give that a go a 4-2-3-1 with a front four of:

                    Suarez--Gerrard--Bellamy
                    ---------Carroll--------

                    would be quite good IMO.

As I've said before I think Carroll could do well given a run of games, and the 3 behind him would have alot of movement cause defenders alot of problems and create some chances, as well as being able to chip in with alot of goals themselves.

I'd like to see Suarez played wide right, once we get a more goalscoring striker in the middle, until then he's the best forward we have.

And if he could convert chances would probably be the best forward in the world.

we defintely need a new striker, my [point was spending big would be putting carroll further down pecking order.

I genuinely dont see that making a difference in how many he scores for us

He rarely stays centrally anyway hes given the freedom to roam the pitch and pop up anywhere

For me watching him when he has chances he lacks composure - top quality forwards will often pass the ball into the net. Suarez nearly goals for full on lashing it as hard as he can and when you do that you tend to lose control of the ball

I would have given Morgan a go this time last year but hes been poor this season hes regressed imo

It depends what we to formation-wise if as is being suggested we go with Suarez off the front its likely to be one of Carroll or the new guy. If we stick with Suarez as a striker it gives him more competition for his place, I guess we'd have to see how he reacted.

Most crucial part of that for me is getting Gerrard near Carroll. Think it'd do him the world of good

We're crying out for a link player in the middle
