Good teams with guile and creativity find a way. Otherwise, no teams would score and defence would win every game.

Indeed, we had guile and creativity through Suarez and Maxi - and towards the end Gerrard - and worked the goalkeeper. We also mixed it up and went wide with Downing, Enrique and Johnson - again, towards the end with Bellamy - and we worked the goalkeeper.

We did find a way - our approach play from the flanks *did* work, as much as our play through the centre did - we just came up against another goalie playing out his skin.

Exiled_Red has touched on it, there is a very fine line between drawing 1-1 and winning 4-1 and it was the goalkeepers gloves and more accurate finishing.

It was **** again. How is it we can make **** teams look like they are half decent and struggle? Adam, and henderson need dropping.

We lost 2 points today because of our lack of conviction in the first half.

Too many times this season at home we let the opposition off the hook too easily as we press for first 10-15 minutes and then when we don't score we fade slowly but steadily until the half time.

After the break, we realize we may be in trouble in terms of points, we develop the sense of urgency but we just don't have enough quality (and certainly don't have luck on our side neither) to either come back or take the lead in the second half.

Really need to buy some quality players and change the game approach if we want to have a chance to get into top 4.

Great post Mostar.

I think we need this season to NOT finish in the top 4, sometimes a situation demands that you hit 'rock-bottom', before you really evaluate your position and change by a radically different approach.

We have far too many players in the final third who hold up the ball far too often and are not direct enough. Far too many players who hang around outside the 18 yard box rather then inside it.

We try to play tippy tappy football and play one to many passes that causes us into an 'unforced error' usually in the midfield.

We no longer counter attack with fast direct pace like we used to under Rafa. Saurez or whoever, dillys and dallys and the momentum usually breaks down for there too be 2 banks of 4. With none of our players in an attacking position.

Most of our players when attacking seem to take up a 3 man triangle shape on the wings near the edge of the 18 yard box, waiting for a pass to be cut inside an already crowded box.

I guess the key word is ruthless. Maybe even accuracy.

It's not as if we are devoid of ideas in the final third - we very much mix it up - we go wide, we go through the centre we just don't make teams pay.

We had 28 attempts on target, 13 of which were on target to Blackburn's 2 and 3 respectively. To say we need 'guile and creativity' is not addressing our immediate problem.

We are not clinical

Out of those attempts on target Carroll has had 1 saved well from close range and the other is a world class save

Downing's shot is weak when clean through on his good side

Some of the off target efforts were decent headed chances where we missed the target

We do create chances but where as UTD, City, Spurs and Arsenal will finish the majority we do not convert

We are lacking quality in few areas and that needs to be addressed right away.

If not, I cannot see us getting any better in terms of point production and imo Europa League is the best we can expect this season.
