Most of our players must have the footballing IQ of a carrot. It's the only explanation I can have for the utterly predictable low percentage football I've seen on a regular basis.
Get possession, move it out wide and then proceed to cross from deep to 1 or no players inside the box. Or run at fullback and try and force something instead of recycling the ball and create a better chance. It's brainless at best and cowardly to see, taking the easy way out with a ****ty cross or long range shot.
Christ we need a playmaker in this team, someone like Modric/Xabi/Silva who can dictate the tempo of the game.

I put it down to being off the pace; he tracked back well and dropped deep to receive the ball, but then didn't bust a gut to get in to the box when the ball went wide.Originally posted by Daniel 7 View PostSomeone mentioned about Carroll dropping too deep - confidence thing? I wonder if its him hiding. If he drops deep he's not up top messing things up. He's not as visible.
When the ball was worked wide from our back line, Carroll was in the box causing some mischief. There could be an element of confidence though, there was times he seemed to berate himself and he seemed timid in some aerial challenges, but didn't shy away totally.

They were a mid table team, why on earth would we want to adopt their footballing philosophy.Originally posted by Leyton388 View PostHe looked **** hot at Newcastle but like was said he had Barton and Co thinking for him but here it's not the case.Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

It doesn't matter any more. Money is spent and there is nothing that can be done about that.
He is here and in fairness he was again unlucky today.
Had some great goal scoring chances and the goalkeeper having a game of the season stopped him for banging few.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

You've got two banks of four defending for a point and pretty much every player behind the ball, or in their own half - where do you want us to play? Down the flanks, or through the middle of a congested park?Originally posted by Hannibal View PostMost of our players must have the footballing IQ of a carrot. I also thought that Gerrard tried to take the game through the middle and when that didn't work, we went wide? We tippy-tap it around the box and don't score, we shout to get the ball in to the box. We play the ball in to the box and we complain about how we don't tippy-tap it around their 18 yard line.

Good teams with guile and creativity find a way. Otherwise, no teams would score and defence would win every game.Originally posted by Muddled View PostYou've got two banks of four defending for a point and pretty much every player behind the ball, or in their own half - where do you want us to play?
