If it was Kenny's idea to buy British players over foreign ones regardless of footballing ability then Commolli should be given complete power over transfers from now on.
If that doesn't happen then I could seriously see Kenny attempting to bring in Adam Johnson, Lee Cattermole and Steven Fletcher next month.

Johnson is also so inconsistent. He hardly featured in the last third and I felt Downing was better today the way he went forward with purpose BUT sadly his decision making at the last moment ruined the effort he puts in.
Carroll worked hard but I genuinely do not think he understands what a good Centre Forward is all about.
He is too static and does not make runs in front of defenders and gets too under the ball!
He should attack the ball more!!
Admittedly crosses need to be at pace and lower in flight and the only persons capable of that is Bellamy and Gerrard who should either play behind Carroll or whip in balls from the right. I would start with Kelly at full back and Johnson should be up on the right if Stevie G is behind Carroll. Downing can be an impact player after 1 hour if Bellers isn't working out. Downing should be back on the left hand side and I would use him more away from home and Bellamy more at home.
I saw some encouraging signs from Downing today I thought he delivered a few good crosses, but I think your assessment is accurate his decision making in the final third was poor (although that was the case for alot of people today). The problem with Downing is he seems to be the player that alot of fans get on the back of when the team don't play well, when in truth others have played as badly if not worse than him.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Dalglish won't get many transfer windows to put it right, that's for sure. The owners are not stupid and will want to see substantial progress if they are to coninue investing in the club with Dalglish at the helm.
Not sure who mentioned it but Pato is a good shout because I can see AC Milan listening to offers if Tevez signs for them. What is clear is we need to buy 2 or 3 proven players who have got that extra gift to create something out of nothing. I honestly hope we don't go down the buy British policy this window or the summer window unless the player in question is a game changer.

C'mon, so Kenny said to John Henry, get me Henderson, Adam, Downing Carroll and Bellamy and Comolli said, get me Suarez, Coates and Enrqiue?Originally posted by ~LFCHistory~ View PostIf it was Kenny's idea to buy British players over foreign ones regardless of footballing ability then Commolli should be given complete power over transfers from now on.

But it's happening too often to brush it off with being 'unlucky'. Either our approach is wrong or the players aren't good enough, or a bit of both. I beleive our approach is right, the players aren't good enough though.Originally posted by Muddled View PostIn a black* and white* world, yes - but you've got to accept a bit of grey* in football, surely?

So we should just wait and hope that our luck changes ?? That won't happen. We are in 6th place because our team has been burdened with 78 million pounds worth of British mediocrity. Foreign, young, talented players needed next month if we want a chance of a top 4 finish.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostTrue, it is ifs and buts. The thing is though we aren't playing badly, people come in the match and post match threads moaning out of frustration at the result. The Spurs game aside we've probably done enough to win every other game this season, now granted you don't always get what you deserve in football but in truth we're not even getting close to what we deserve, the point I'm making is that the line between success and failure in our case is very fine, people are taking about us having a team full of average players, but that same team could easily be sat comfortably in the top 3 had things been a little different, and things would be looking alot brighter. I don't think we need 3 or 4 more players (although it would be nice).

While we are not clinical and we have the the worse shot to goal ratio, I would like to know how many chances we actually create in comparison with other top sides....the reason Scum score late often is they are peppering the goal, just like lampturd, shoot 100 times and you bound to get a lucky deflection.Originally posted by Chazza1978 View PostWe are not clinical
Out of those attempts on target Carroll has had 1 saved well from close range and the other is a world class save
Downing's shot is weak when clean through on his good side
Some of the off target efforts were decent headed chances where we missed the target
We do create chances but where as UTD, City, Spurs and Arsenal will finish the majority we do not convert
Downing delivered maybe 3 crosses which should have been goals but again if he didnt hit the first ****ing man 500times our strikers would have a better chance to score, I think half the problem is they are that surprised when a cross gets to them they dont know what to do!!_____________________________________
Weak willed, Wank or do they have a masterplan?
Think we have the answer..Slot!!

A fair point, but if the same players are making our approach play right, surely we can't brush the same players off as not good enough?Originally posted by cream View PostBut it's happening too often to brush it off with being 'unlucky'. Granted, we can't keep blaming us being 'unlucky', but you would hope that our finishing is something we are addressing in training and it is something that can be rectified - new players, under a new manager, under a new system.
I guess the next question would be, how long do you give it?
