    i reckon we will see.....

    ----------------reina-------------------

    johnson----skrtel----agger--------enrique

    -------henderson--spearing----adam--

    downing------------------------------kuyt

    -----------------suarez---------------

and whilst it's not a bad side - it's not great either and city's midfield will **** ours

Best hope for me is to defend like trojans and hope for a moment of magic from either Suarez or Gerrard off the bench, to nick a win

        I feel the same.

Very tough game and if Stevie and Bellamy 2 proven quality players don't start, which I don't think they will, it will be very difficult for us to get something out of this match.

It will be a tough match but I actually think this is the sort of match we have played best in. Hard to be confident when we are inconsistent in front of goal but I don't fear the game like some seem to.

It's not like City have looked invincible in recent games.

I think a draw is probably the most likely result.

Surely Bellamy will want to play in this one, he should be well up for it. I know he doesn't normally play 2 games close together but I'd expect him to either start and play an hour or so, or come off the bench for the last 30mins.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I'd think that would be more likely of two.

Exactly how I see it. We've proved over the last five or six years that when it comes to playing the big teams then we can more than hold our own.

It's the games against ****e where we tend to shoot ourselves in the foot.

Getting bored of the SSN coverage in the build up to this game. Its all about when Man City pick up the three points to go ahead in the title race. A while back we were at least afforded the respect of us being in the top 4 - now we are just expected to roll over against City so they can go on to win the league.

Ok, so they're record is P18 W17 D1, but FFS, the coverage suggests we might as well not turn up.

Oh - sorry, they have just said City have won one in the last 13 against us...

I think we'll pack the midfield, be boring and keep it very tight then look to win in the last 25 minutes with the introduction of Gerrard, Bellamy and maybe even Suarez.
                      Reina
                      Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
                      Spearing Adam
                      Kuyt Henderson Downing
                      Carroll

Is what i think we might start with.

Albeit home to Newcastle we just won and scored 3 without Suarez and need to start facing up to 8 games without him, maybe more if we appeal.

I'd be seriously tempted to keep Suarez on the bench, have Bellamy running them ragged (fitness permitting) for an hour and Carroll battering them physically - and then bringing Suarez on after an hour, to capitalise on their tiredness.

BTW Birdman, your suggested XI wouldnt last til half time, let alone the 65 minute mark

While i understand the 'frustrate them' and pack midfield idea, our best bet of keeping them at bay is having the ball ourselves and occupying them too.

I would ask all City fans to respect Liverpool tonight as much as possible. Don't degrade our club like they have theirs. Remain respected.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I agree with you but we won't play like that.
Downing will play to track Richards, Kuyt to do the same on Clichy and we'll play 3 v 3 in centre midfield.
We'll be the same as Arsenal away, boring, keeping the ball but with limited ambition, plan to stay in the game then hit them on the break as they commit more players into attacks as the game enters the last 20 mins or so.
This is another game that will show up Spearing as not good enough and prove to those who haven't admitted it yet just how big a loss Lucas is.

If we play in a merely reactionary way to what they do, the game will be over before the hour mark.
