Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

The question for me is whether he has previously performed to a different standard in this respect for Uruguay or Ajax. I seem to remember that there are generally less chances in international football than in the PL and his record for Uruguay suggests he must be capable of better.Originally posted by Lecter View PostI see 2 problems with Suarez
IMO he completely lacks any composure in front of goal, he almost always tries to **** the ball as hard as he can, when often a placed finish / pass the ball into the net would be better served
I think hes too selflish - maybe thats because of the symptoms you mention above but I'm not sure"The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

But some players do well in other countries/internationally but cant transfer that goalscoring form to the Premier LeagueOriginally posted by dww View PostThe question for me is whether he has previously performed to a different standard in this respect for Uruguay or Ajax. Kezman & Kuyt spring to mind
I dont know why Suarez's finishing is off but it is
IMO its not down to teammates or the quality of chances
Hes had some really easy chances that with a little bit more composure he could have buriedLast edited by Lecter; 03-01-12, 03:30 PM.Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Sure, but the question is whether what we see is a limitation or due to factors around the way we play or the environment in which he is playing.Originally posted by Lecter View PostBut some players do well in other countries/internationally but cant transfer that goalscoring form to the Premier League

I don't think that Kuyt is a useful comparator on this actually as his scoring record for the Dutch national team (and for us to a lesser degree) has changed as he has been used in different ways/roles. Kezman more so but his long term record post Chelsea suggests that something (confidence perhaps) was ruined by factors at Chelsea."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I can actually because it's irrelevant to this topic.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostAnd you can turn that around and say that, without a huge chunk of fortune, they wouldnt have scored.
You cant criticise us for relying on fortune to score goals, whilst ignoring the fact that the single goal we shipped was largely down to the same reason.

100% agree with you. He is too selfish (esp for someone who misses so much) - I think possibly he gets a bit desperate if we have not scored early and starts trying too hard.
It's a tough one, sometimes his quick thinking / passes / shots can help us but at other times I sit there wishing he would calm down a bit and take a little more time.

Craig, you may struggle to score but some of us are in a rich vein of form.
